Rush Limbaugh's $155M Estate Is Being Demolished
Newser ^ | 7.26.2023 | Jenn Giddman

....Demolition has already started at the 1495 N. Ocean Blvd. property, purchased by Lauder from Limbaugh's widow. It's not the first time Lauder has bulldozed his buys to the ground: He tore down homes on two other Palm Beach lots and recently listed the parcels together for a sale price of $200 million, the Wall Street Journal reported earlier this year. Limbaugh's erstwhile two-story, five-bedroom manse, built in 1992, boasted almost 22,000 square feet; the parcel also featured two smaller residences.

Although no blueprints have yet been handed over to local officials, word is that Lauder plans on erecting a custom home on the land. Lauder isn't the only billionaire who has recently succumbed to the knock-it-down trend: A historic Houston mansion worth $24 million, purchased last year by Astros owner Jim Crane, was torn down this week. In that case, the residence was said to be ripe for razing, as the home had fallen on hard times due to "disuse and decay," per Chron.com.

I don’t see the connection between the two photos. The bottom one is clearly Boston City Hall (I know it well) but the top one has palm trees. Not many palm trees in Boston.

My rant wasn’t specifically concerning the Rush Limbaugh estate. The house itself isn’t that special.

BTW, I’m a supporter of President Trump.

The mansion mentioned in Houston needed to be torn down. It was a dump and health disaster with all the mold and water damage.

The same fate happened to Ray Bradbury’s house, though his was much more modest. America is being erased and replaced.

That's the goal. Then future generations will never know what we had that they could and will buckle under whoever's thumb they are under.

I simply don’t understand the demolition of Penn Station. The demolition took place before I was born, but I’ve read about the controversial destruction of that landmark.

Very cool.
Hope he provides lots of jobs for Americans.
Special observation - Governor DeSantis recently signed legislation requiring all Florida employers to use E-Verify. So that is progress.

Nonsense. The guy bought it.

I made changes to all 7 homes I have owned in my life, what’s the big deal? I almost bought one last month just to tear down even though the place was barely 25 years old. Where’s the Beef?

Whatever house you have now will be occupied by a dozen deserving immigrant families soon, and you will be required to find new accommodations.

I thing the issue is more public buildings. The hideous replacements post WW2 from previous buildings was the greatest source of architectural destruction.

One of the things Trump wanted to do was restore federal construction in DC back to the traditional style, and away from Hoover Building Brutalism (which does seem appropriate in the FBI case)

Of course, Biden repealed it. The Regime needs ugly depressing buildings to go along with the rest of their population demoralization strategy.

War Correspondent Ernie Pyle had a modest 1100 square foot home in Albuquerque, NM. After his wife’s death the city bought it and turned into a tiny library for the neighborhood, and it’s still there today. Things don’t always get destroyed.

His widow has been trying to sell it for a while. A giant house can easily become a white elephant when there are too few to live there, and the cleaning/maintenance/landscaping costs never go down.

It does sound like she got a good price for it, which was not guaranteed these days.
