Months ago, businessman and presidential hopeful Vivek Ramaswamy was a little-known political outsider.
Now, he’s rising in several recent polls — putting him neck-and-neck with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis as runner-up in the Republican primaries behind favorite Donald Trump.
“To be honest, I’m pleased but not that surprised,” Ramaswamy told The Post. “We’re seeing a broader activation of momentum.”
A recent Kaplan Strategies poll of primary voters found Ramaswamy tying DeSantis at 12%.
Similarly, a Harvard Harris poll conducted last week found Ramaswamy breaking double digits with 10% of likely Republican primary voters, coming within a hair of DeSantis’ 12% and trailing Trump’s 52%.
Harvard Harris declared that DeSantis is “losing steam to Ramaswamy.”
Pollster Doug Kaplan of Kaplan Strategies says Ramaswamy’s campaign is only just starting to take off.
“He’s just catching on now, so he’s just going to keep gaining,” Kaplan told The Post. “I think our poll is spot on.”
A former biotech investor turned anti-ESG crusader, 37-year-old Ramaswamy is running on a platform that calls for a radical dismantlement of federal agencies including the FBI and Department of Education, a commitment to America-first policies, and an isolationist approach to conflict in Ukraine.
Experts and Ramaswamy alike agree that much of his recent surge comes down to heightened awareness and exposure. *** Kaplan’s analysis found the entrepreneur from Ohio has made particular inroads with independent voters and the 30- to 49-year-old demographic.
“Particularly, we are reaching a lot of young people,” Ramaswamy said. “I think we’re reaching a lot of independent-minded Republicans or even people who don’t traditionally think of themselves as old-school Republicans.”
According to the Ramaswamy campaign, he’s received contributions from 70,000 unique donors, 40% of whom have never given to a Republican candidate before. ***

I want “The rent is too damn high!” guy to win.
He might be a ascending but he doesn’t ascend to the level of being an Article 2 Section 1 natural born Citizen. He’s not one. His parents weren’t naturalized citizens when he was born.
To be an “independent” in this day and age requires one to be completely uninformed and a liberal.
Ramaswampy’s record is about to be exposed.
Vivek has a close relationship with the Soros’. If Vivek should win, it would give the Soros Crime Family an open door to the Coke House.
Cuz it doesn’t really matter at this point??
This issue of natural born citizenship comes up a lot on Free Republic.
Some Freepers say, that both of your parents must have been citizens at the time of your birth, for you to be a natural born citizen.
Other Freepers say, that if you were born in America, you are a natural born citizen, regardless of the citizenship of your parents. Those Freepers say that you are natural born, if you didn’t have to go through the naturalization process, to become an American citizen.
And then other Freepers say, as a practical matter, no court ruling will ever prevent an American citizen born in America from running for president. Those Freepers take the position, that the courts will never intervene to prevent anyone from running for office, if they are American by birth.
Which Freepers are we to believe?
It seems to me that Trump’s lead is insurmountable. Still early…
The latter FReepers. See Obama.
There’s reality and there’s internet arguments.
It doesn’t matter anymore.
We let Obama be president so all the other rules went out the window.
YES, he has listed some of the government agencies he wants destroyed. That makes him very popular. That made Perot popular too.
Given what he says it’s not surprising.
He talks clearly and directly about the problems the left are causing.
To be an “independent” in this day and age requires one to be completely uninformed and a liberal.

True statement.
Independents in my state(Oregon) are nothing more than an extension of the democrat party.
It’s quite disturbing to think the direction of a nation depends on the shallowness of independent and suburban women voters.
The practical Freepers have it right. The others can jibber jabber about the minutiae until the cows come home, but it will have no effect on SCOTUS doing the practical thing.
I agree, I like what I’ve heard from him so far.
We all know Trump is far ahead in the polls, and likely to get the nomination. But as others have said, we don’t do coronations, and it’s good to see people such as Vivek get publicity and speak to the issues. He’s one to watch for the future.
Viek is the newest Globalist shinny thing. Won’t work.
He’s telling people what they want to hear. Which is fine, they all do that.
He says he’s going to get rid of the FBI, by delegating its responsibilities to other agencies. How will he staff those agencies when their workload increases? Will be banned all former FBI agents from taking those jobs? It’s going to be a lot of positions that have to be filled.
Time will tell
Exactly!
He doesn’t so much challenge Trump as complement Trump.
Trump’s not the only one.
