A series of climate records on temperature, ocean heat, and Antarctic sea ice have alarmed some scientists who say their speed and timing is unprecedented.
Dangerous heatwaves in Europe could break further records, the UN says.
It is hard to immediately link these events to climate change because weather - and oceans - are so complex.
Studies are under way, but scientists already fear some worst-case scenarios are unfolding.
"I'm not aware of a similar period when all parts of the climate system were in record-breaking or abnormal territory," Thomas Smith, an environmental geographer at London School of Economics, says.
"The Earth is in uncharted territory" now due to global warming from burning fossil fuels, as well as heat from the first El Niño - a warming natural weather system - since 2018, says Imperial College London climate science lecturer Dr Paulo Ceppi.
We can certainly expect more and more of these records to break as the year goes on and we enter 2024, scientists say.
But it would be wrong to call what is happening a "climate collapse" or "runaway warming", cautions Dr Otto.
We are in a new era, but "we still have time to secure a liveable future for many", she explains.

The only way this works is if they are leaving out the data from the Antarctic, which he believes, they are. They are also ignoring areas that are well below average.
The 90’s would feel pretty cold here. Lol. We’re in the 100’s. Humidity off the charts. The air conditioning going constantly. Enjoy your cold temperatures.

I have a standard reply to these folks and goes something like this
I don’t believe animals have rights, but that doesn’t mean they should be abused
I believe mankind has little effect on climate but i also believe we should be good stewards as well. To be good stewards we need facts and common sense
So I ask
What is “normal” for the earth?
We take now(or whatever date they take as starting point )as “normal “ so any change to that is abnormal.
As you said the earth is very old and according to “science” conditions on earth have fluctuated wildly almost all of which occurred when there were no coal fired power plants and SUVs, so if mankind is causing “climate change” what caused it then?
Ice ages came and went, why?
The earth recently(in geological terms) left what was called the mini ice age(what caused that and why did it end) so rising temperatures would actually seem to make sense.
How do you factor the suns energy into the equation, rarely hear mention of that, but seems since it is the main source of energy for this planet it’s part should discussed far more than it is.

What we have conclusively learned from Covid is that scientists, and “experts”, will say whatever those funding them want them to say. Those who disagree are simply censored and you don’t hear from them.
Absolute bullshit. I live in Northern Sicily around 1400 feet above sea level and day after day here for the past 10 days it has been above 38C. South of here, in Agrigento, they've been between 40-45.
It has been hot as hell here for the last three years. These things run in cycles so to tie it to "climate change" is also bullshit."

When Solar Panel farms and use on buildings stop there will be a stop to increased Climate numbers. Removing them will lower the climate heat.
