Official Behind Gas Stove Crackdown Admits She Has No Clue What It Takes To Install An Electric Stove
Daily Caller ^ | 7/18/23 | Arjun Singh

A senior Biden administration official responsible for overseeing a new rule that would push households to purchase electric stoves over cheaper gas-powered stoves said that she does not know how an electric stove is installed during testimony before the House Oversight Subcommittee on Energy Policy, Economic Growth, and Regulatory Affairs on Tuesday.

The Department of Energy (DOE) on Feb. 1 published a proposed federal regulation that would require millions of household gas stoves in the United States to be modified for “energy efficiency,” according to the rule’s text, which has provoked an outcry from Republicans. In testimony before the subcommittee, Geraldine Richmond, the Under Secretary of Energy for Science and Innovation who oversaw the rulemaking process, said she does not know how an electric stove, the suggested alternative under the rule, would be installed.

“Official Behind Gas Stove Crackdown Admits She Has No Clue”

Akin to the esteemed professor, Walter E. Williams, Jr., writing about the First Amendment in the Bill of Rights:

“Congress shall make no law”

The good professor would continue: “They should have stopped right there.”

In most cases you'd have to get a new electrical panel with upgraded service. 100 amp panel won't cut it. Probably 3 or 4 thousand dollars minimum, maybe more.

Many homes in the Midwest are built all-electric. 200 amp panels to start.

On a new build it is designed into the home. What in the world are people in older cities with older homes going to do?

Ignore the rule.

But landlords are going to get pummeled by the rule making bodies.

Our first home was built in 1928, had solid wood shiplap throughout, and a single 60 amp circuit, with knob and tube wiring, that fed one light and one wall outlet per room.

Cost me $4500 (1985 dollhairs) to replace it with a 200 amp panel and new wiring. Thankfully the "electrician" was fresh out of prison, needed cash and cut me a deal.

Today's cost? Or if I had a brick row home that was from 100 years ago?

Look for a lot of lightning strikes to burn down old homes.

Or to install an EV charger...

But Deep State doesn’t care.

So everyone needs electricity for the stove because we need to burn natural gas to produce electricity, loose BTUs converting, transporting, changing voltages so your new electric stove will work! See how that works, you don’t pollute the planet by using natural gas, we do it for you! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Exactly. If true energy efficiency is your goal, electric stoves are about the worst thing you could do. Burns way more BTUs than gas.

W deserve the best and we get the worst

The "winners" of our last two elections did so through outright cheating, and the losers (no quotes) are all too happy to go along with having been cheated.

Kari Lake and Trump are the only ones fighting our corrupt, banana republic election process.

I'd say that we deserve what we're getting, good and hard.

What we are seeing is the implementation of the Cloward-Piven. The goal is to overwhelm every institution and system in the country until it collapse. The policies are designed to create chaos. When the goal is destruction, there needs to be no understanding of the existing system nor logical consideration of the implications of actions systematically.

Eliminating fossil fuels will destroy our economic foundation completely. The leftists controlling the federal bureaucracy know exactly what they are doing. The Republicans who hold the hearings also know what is happening. A few House hearings where GOP politicians yell at ignorant bureaucrats, followed by sternly written letters to the president or cabinet official, will do nothing to stop the intentional destruction of our economy and society.

“Admits She Has No Clue What It Takes To Install An Electric Stove”

...just remove the gas stove and replace it with an electric stove, which you then plug into a socket. Doesn’t sound like much.

Oh yea, it will take you 30 minutes to boil water and you can only use one burner, on low, at a time, or you trip the 15 Amp breaker in the fuse box.

Oh the huge manatee, more mining of metals and minerals to make all the crap needed to install all the less efficient electric stoves.

All these grandiose ideas that actually cause much more harm than good and do the exact opposite of the publicly stated intent - and the left side of the bell curve people eat it up.

“Talking serious coin.”

100-amp panel might do it, but it would be close (and may be insufficient if you have electric heat/water heater).

A 200-amp panel is better yet, but would likely require new wiring all the way in from the street.

IMHO the worst part is how much the Dim sheeple support it, even though those same sheeple supported switching to "clean burning natural gas". And I'm not talking about ancient history. I'm talking about during the recent Dim regime less than a decade ago. How many beelyuns of dollars did power companies spend (a cost passed onto us consumers) shutting down coal plants and replacing them with natural gas fueled plants? Then Brandon came in and issued EO orders in his first week making it harder to drill for natural gas, which reduced supply and raised the price. Thus our natural gas bills AND our power bills went up even more (because the cost of fuel to the power utility is passed as a rider per kWh in the power bill to the consumer). Now they're trying to ban all things natural gas after less than a decade ago pressuring America to switch over to "clean burning natural gas".

It's not just that the Dims make up stupid rules for stupid reasons. It's also that they keep changing the rules.

“”Perry also questioned whether Richmond’s office had consulted with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), an independent agency that regulates the transmission of electricity and natural gas across state lines, whether increasing the number of electric stoves in the country would exert pressure on the U.S. electricity grid.

“We did not … In our energy conservation standards program, we did not consult with FERC,” Richmond replied.””

.

Of course they didn’t.

What FERC has to say means nothing to the communist progs.

It is their agenda-of-the-week and nothing will interfere with it.

Crashing the electrical grid means nothing to the rolling blackout crew.

.

One little problem: There isn’t enough power or distribution capacity to support the change over.

The bigger problem (by far) is that these know-nothing unelected political hack regulators think that they can lord over us.

Agreed. In my current home (built in the late 1990's) I have a 200 amp panel. Thus it was easy to add a 60 amp circuit a year ago for charging the EV with a NEMA 14-50 outlet (dryer outlet). That's something I could not so easily have done in my prior home 5 miles away built in the 1940's with a 60 amp fuse panel (IIRC). I'm sure the same for installing a new circuit for a new electric stove.

These mandates and regulations are madness. Less than a decade ago the Dims were coercing folks to switch to "clean burning natural gas". Now the Dims make natural gas sound like the bogey man hiding under the bed. I believe they intentionally change their minds on the "science" to keep us on the defensive, control us more, and enrich their pocketbooks.
