Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.) says Fox News made “a mistake” by depicting Jan. 6, 2021, as a largely peaceful if chaotic protest, a revision of history that the Capitol Police chief criticized as “offensive” and “misleading.”
McConnell told reporters that he endorsed Police Chief Tom Manger’s criticism that Fox host Tucker Carlson “cherry-picked” calmer moments from the violent day failed to provide context about the chaos and violence that happened in the Capitol.
“I want to associate myself entirely with the opinion of the chief of the Capitol police about what happened on Jan. 6,” McConnell told reporters Tuesday, holding up a copy of the police chief’s statement.
McConnell said “my concern is how it was depicted” on Carlson’s highly-rated show.
“Clearly the chief of the Capitol Police, in my view, correctly described what most of us witnessed first hand on Jan. 6,” he said.
“It was a mistake, in my view, [for] Fox News to depict this in a way completely at variance with what our chief law enforcement official in the Capitol” described, McConnell said.

I did happen to see yesterday’s show. He did not underplay the violence. He showed several times the acts of violence and vandalism that some of the people did. But he was also correct to show exculpatory evidence and to show evidence that was contrary to the mass media narrative. If it was an “armed insurrection” those police didn’t do much to stop the people wandering around the Capitol other than to shoot an unarmed woman.

I just watched Chuckie have a FULL meltdown on the floor of the Senate, where he called out Rupert Murdoch and said “do NOT let Tucker Carlson show the second segment tonight”. As in, you do..and we’re gonna come after you - HARD.
Praying that Murdoch doesn’t cave, and that Tucker airs part 2 tonight as promised.
These people are VERY scared at this point. The entire Jan 6 narrative they’ve been pushing on us all for 2 years has been a TOTAL AND COMPLETE **LIE**. And the videos prove that, conclusively, for anyone who cares to watch them.
But what really frosts my a## is that there are so-called REPUBLICANS parroting the Dem talking points. McConnell. Romney. The usual RINOs. Eg: “Cherry picked footage”, etc. No. The “cherry picked footage” was the total BS that the Jan 6 committee selectively and carefully edited to craft a false narrative. Anyone who saw Tucker’s segment last night now realizes that fully.

Tillis is a major disappointment. He is 100% GOP establishment. Much more comfortable with Mitt Romney, Mitch McConnell, Susan Collins, and Lisa Murkowski than with the conservatives in NC. It seems he believes he must be a “moderate” to win in NC.
The only reasons Tillis won in 2020 were Trump’s endorsement and the collapse of his Democrat opponent when the opponent admitted an affair. His margin of victory was less than 2%.
If current Democrat Governor Roy Cooper opposes Tillis in 2026, Tillis will be looking for new work. Trump won NC in 2016 and 2020 but Cooper, running the same two years for governor, earned more votes when on the same ballot. Tillis won’t pick up any Democrat votes by playing the moderate and his compromises may result in some conservative Republicans not voting in the senatorial race if Tillis is the GOP nominee.
McConnell may not like it, but I saw one guy last night that
was around up to nine different police officers who made no
attempt to confront him. Another officer was essentially
leading him on a peaceful tour.
This guy has had the book thrown at him, a four year
sentence.
Sure, we may not be seeing the most violent moments. We
should. We should also address the kangaroo court type
sentences issued to the guy I mentioned above.
Long terms of isolation to these people are cruel and
unusual. We must stop our agencies from being able to
treat people like this on a whim.
These were not terrorists, and the lose terms that allow
them to be addressed that way are not by accident > IMO.
Anybody when the pathetic, corrupt, NYTs, released Sarah Palin’s emails???????
