The creator of the Dilbert comic strip faced a backlash of cancellations Saturday while defending remarks describing people who are Black as members of "a hate group" from which white people should "get away."
Various media publishers across the U.S. denounced the comments by Dilbert creator Scott Adams as racist, hateful and discriminatory while saying they would no longer provide a platform for his work.
Andrews McMeel Syndication, which distributes Dilbert, did not immediately respond Saturday to requests for comment. But Adams defended himself on social media against those who he said "hate me and are canceling me."
The backlash began following an episode this past week of the YouTube show "Real Coffee with Scott Adams." Among other topics, Adams referenced a Rasmussen Reports survey that asked whether people agreed with the statement "It's OK to be white."
Most agreed, but Adams noted 26% of Black respondents disagreed and others weren't sure.
The Anti-Defamation League says the phrase was popularized in 2017 as a trolling campaign by members of the discussion forum 4chan but then some white supremacists started using it.
Adams, who is white, repeatedly referred to people who are Black as members of a "hate group" or a "racist hate group" and said he would no longer "help Black Americans."
"Based on the current way things are going, the best advice I would give to white people is to get the hell away from Black people," Adams said on his Wednesday show.
In another episode of his online show Saturday, Adams said he was making a point that "everyone should be treated as an individual" without discrimination.
"But you should also avoid any group that doesn't respect you, even if there are people within the group who are fine," Adams said.

Wonder what the circ of those 3 newspapers are? Bet Adams knows the medium (paper) is in death throes and does not care a whit he dropped him.

You’re not supposed to say the quiet part out loud, lest you get cancelled.
It just proves everything that Adams has ever said about them.

The Boston Globe, the Los Angeles Times and the Washington Post each said Saturday they were dropping Dilbert because of Adams’s comments.
AND:
Gannett, the largest American newspaper publisher, said in statement that USA Today Network – which includes more than 300 local media outlets in 43 states – would immediately cease publishing the cartoon.
From what I can observe, the LAT and USA-Today are obedient and obligate progressive publications, and yes, they might have been looking for an excuse to drop the strip.
Odd business move, however, as many readers to turn to the comic section before the editorial page, and many will read Dilbert first. Thus, for them, there is no further reason to subscribe or buy or read online, lots of other choices.

“Black people” gets a capital B but “white people” does not get a capital W. Seems a tad racist .
If we had a real discussion about race in the country we could start fixing a lot of problems but whites are generally too scared and blacks just talk so they can get a hand out.

Yes that was the number, 47%. What does that even mean? These 47% of blacks are saying that whites shouldn’t exist?
