John Fetterman Is a Disabled American Who Needs Technology to Do His Job. So What?
New York Times ^ | Oct. 13, 2022 | David M. Perry

Posted on 10/13/2022 5:06:51 PM PDT by conservative98

This week, John Fetterman, the Democratic for the Senate from Pennsylvania, appeared in what NBC News billed as his first on-camera, one-on-one interview since he had a stroke in May. The interview went well and was conducted with Mr. Fetterman and the reporter, Dasha Burns, sitting in the same room, as Mr. Fetterman used a captioning system on a computer screen to assist him with his auditory-processing, something he has needed help with since the stroke.

Ms. Burns introduced the interview to the news anchor Lester Holt by saying, “In small talk before the interview without captioning, it wasn’t clear he was understanding our conversation.” With that one statement, Ms. Burns shifted the conversation away from a necessary adaptation to implying that NBC was doing Mr. Fetterman a favor by using captioning and that it was a problem for the candidate that he needed technology to reliably converse.

Her comment suggests that certain kinds of accommodation are illegitimate. Would Ms. Burns have made a similar remark if a wheelchair user couldn’t get around without a wheelchair? Are you wearing contacts or glasses to read this essay? It is our accommodations, often but not exclusively technological in nature, that make it possible for many of us to do our jobs. This is no less true for politicians than it is for the rest of us.

I’ve had active symptoms of mental illness since I was 9. Last March, at age 48, I finally convinced myself it was OK to ask for a reasonable accommodation at work. Now I can do my job better with more flexibility around when I physically come into my office. And I can read this essay because I put on my glasses. Just as John Fetterman can be a senator if he has access to captioning.

“John Fetterman Is a Disabled American Who Needs Technology to Do His Job. So What?”

LOL! More like a disabled communist. He’s a completely incoherent blob and useless parasite. He is a derelict, and nothing he does is of any value. He cares only about maintaining his lifestyle with a minimalist amount of effort. And when he decides to actually expend time related to his office, he does so for attention either by grandstanding and spreading disinformation for the cameras... or takes a few minutes out of his do-nothing day and adds an item to his ‘Things to do, but never will” list. Instead he checks his bank account for his tax-payer deposit and spends the rest of the day on Porn-Hub.

Didn’t he save a town from extinction? At least that’s what he said. Braddock was the town he was Mayor of that he claims he saved... and because of his hard work and devotion to Braddock, it thrives today as a real sh$t-hole.

Typical of most every politician and usually Democrats... Fetterman is nothing but a bloviating and pretentious clown that talks and does nothing; has accomplished ZERO in his pathetic political life and collects $200,000 a year for all that hard work doing nothing but chin-wagging.

It happens all the time. I have a dear friend whose husband developed Alzheimers in his early 60’s. His employer kept him on for a lonnnng time, but eventually had to let him go. It’s why disability insurance was created. And Fetterwoman needs to apply for disability, move on, and leave PA alone.

Fetterwoman running for Senate is a farcical tragedy.

From David M. Perry: “What is the role of the scholar and the expert? Temperatures are rising along with the sea levels. Scientists are discovering the keys to reshaping human DNA. The rallying cry of 1930s American Nazis, “America first,” has been resurrected by the commander-in-chief of the most powerful military the world has ever known. The tweet, the video clip, and the lie can spread from our phones, unfiltered and unchecked, to become a global phenomenon within moments of creation. These stories, and these new and emerging means of communication, reflect the need for academic institutions to orient themselves, at least in part, around expanding access to expertise to the largest audience possible.” Pacific Standard, 3/13/19

I think they are pandering to get white guilt votes?

More like pandering to get the able bodied & sound mind guilt vote.

How many times have we watched C-SPAN coverage of Senate floor votes and the Senators were huddled in the corners in groups of three or four, discussing how they were going to vote? How is Fetterman going to participate in these ad hoc meetings on the Senate floor during critical moments?

Democrats would have run Gabby Giffords if she hadn’t been in the hospital so much. They don’t care. All the need is a name and a body.

So what? So people never will know for sure if they’re dealing with the guy or with a programmed AI entity / algorithm.

Remember when Trump held a glass with 2 hands and these same scumbags said we need to activate the 25th Amendment right now!

What hypocrites.

Newest Trafalgar poll out tonight still has Fetterman up by 2.4 points over Oz. I don’t understand this

Get rid of the drop boxes and Fetterman loses.

Thank you. It was excruciating, and now I know I waited too long. Voters need to not just look at Fetterman, but at everyone he impacts if they allow him to continue. Those people matter too.

Remember in summer 2020... Trump stood for 3 hours in the hot sun to hand out military honors? Then used the handrail when he walked off the stage?

Remember the NYT and MSM said his cabinet should invoke the 25th amendment because he was clearly “disabled” and unable to serve?

A handicap in the mind is a lot worse than a physical handicap, but, we can give a pass to the physically handicapped, but not to someone that will be making life and death decisions that affect millions.

thank you, Kamel-head Harris!
