Stay the course on combating carjacking
Star Tribune ^ | SEPTEMBER 15, 202 | Editorial Board

Graphic video of young people violently stealing vehicles in Minneapolis neighborhoods and parking lots has put many communities on edge about carjackings. And though the number of such incidents is trending lower this year, they remain unacceptably common. Continued efforts are needed to apprehend the perpetrators and drive the numbers still lower.

My priority is survival. Then I’ll deal with the legal fallout.

Good question.

What can go wrong if you are carjacked?

Glad I drive a cute little manual shift Fiat 500. The thugs aren’t interested in my tiny toy car and can’t drive a stick.

"Continued efforts are needed to apprehend the perpetrators and drive the numbers still lower."

Why on earth would you bother "apprehending" them? They'll just be back on the street enriching their communities in a few hours anyway. You can thank your local Soros planted DA for this boon.

Don’t become complacent. If they attempt a carjacking and your car is a stick, a carjacker may just murder you because they have been thwarted.

I did read that article at the link. I can’t imagine the horror that couple endured. Sickening.

It is unlikely you will win a quick draw contest from a seated position, while the perp already has the gun pointed at your face.

In my mind, I have designed a system that would be easy to install. One of those old high beam switches mounted down on floor board to the left of the brake or clutch pedal.
It would actuate a pump that draws from a reservoir filled with pepper spray and pumps to a tube running up the "A" pillar to a retro fitted windshield wiper nozzle mounted on the outside of the car on the driver's side. Hands free and soaks the perp with Carjackin' Love Juice. Then hit the accelerator and screw.

Need to install those things that shock people when they touch a car.

Thank you. It happened in my hometown and we are all still sickened over it. The parents never really recovered from their grief. The monsters who did it were from the ghettos of Memphis and Detroit. Our locally-grown folks are good and decent people.

My car is so tiny and so cute and so girlie (light baby blue) no self-respecting thug would be caught dead in it :)

I’m never complacent, though. And I realize a would-be robber might stake out my car in aparming lot as belonging to a woman, perceived as easy target for a mugging. There’s a downside, too. :(

Simple solution to the crime wave, put them in jail and keep them in jail, repeat offenders are responsbile for most of the current crime.

The democrats are promoting carjacking and all other forms of theft. They feel the “oppressed” have the right to take what they want from their “oppressors.”

A foretaste of reparations.

Clearance defined

https://ucr.fbi.gov/crime-in-the-u.s/2013/crime-in-the-u.s.-2013/offenses-known-to-law-enforcement/clearances/clearancetopic_final

A crime is cleared when the cops have enough info to issue an arrest warrant. It does not mean that the accused is convicted, or the offense was not plea-bargained to nothing.

Many of these Minneapolis carjackers are in their young teens and face little punishment if caught. I expect that more Minnesotans will arm themselves and shoot the teen punks brandishing a gun and trying to hijack their car. Minnesota also needs a juvenile prison where these punks can do hard time until they are 21. Maybe if 14 year old Lonzo is shot dead while hijacking a car or does 5 years of hard time for the crime a few other punks might think twice.

Federal carjacking violations? DOJ and FBI are too busy arresting the My Pillow guy.

After J. Edgar Hoover started the Most Wanted lists then the FBI and the public were supposed to go all out to get the top felons.

Today that means getting Trump and anyone who voted for him or worked with him.

Hell, I consider carjacking as no better than the highwaymen of old. That was the one thing in medieval Europe that got you the death penalty almost everytime.

” U.S. Attorney Andrew Luger said. “A large part of our strategy is focusing our prosecutorial resources on federal carjacking violations and gun crimes.”

Stupid question, I know. How and why is carjacking a federal offense?
