Kobe Bryant’s widow was awarded $16 million as part of a $31 million jury verdict Wednesday against Los Angeles County for deputies and firefighters sharing grisly photos of the NBA star, his 13-year-old daughter and other victims killed in a 2020 helicopter crash.

Shared by a handful of cops and firemen with their phones, I guess. Doesn’t make a whole lot of sense with the big settlement.

'How would the Sheriff have anything to do with that?'

Wasn't he in charge of the site? Why would .gov take photos of dead children, parents and coaches and share them all over town. Some weird fetish.

The people who showed off the photos are the ones who should pay.

On the other hand, the deputies and firefighters shouldn’t have “shared grisly photographs.

Yes a totally lowlife move. I know I would be pissed.

I was an LEO for 25 years and saw a lot of nasty stuff, lots of dead people and horrific carnage. Never even thought of memorializing it with photos much less releasing them publicly.

But the people of California are not very smart, so I guess they should pay anyway. If you are not one of the brain dead loosers you should have moved away years ago. I did.

Oh, big deal. I saw some of the so called worst photos from the Bryant death scene. You can’t tell anything is human in there. There’s a picture of a leg with a shoe on it. Some tarp covered objects - one with a clenched fist sticking out. Gettysburg pictorials of dead men are far worse.

It’s reality, there’s no excuse to shelter people so they’ll be more ignorant. Maybe some might decide not to go on helicopter flights, especially in foggy weather.

It wasn't the foggy weather, it's that the pilot wasn't rated for flying in instrument conditions.

Rather than the taxpayers being forced to pay out, fire the offending officers, cancel their pensions minus what they paid in.

Kobe’s widow wasn’t the only person awarded $$$$ in this case.

A man who lost his wife and daughter was awarded $15 million.

Blame the LEOs who took photos of the victims and leaked them.

And how much of the money is going to the lawyers?

"So the “alleged” rapist's family cashes in."

DNA evidence proved the "victim" had another partner right afterward. The case against Kobe was dropped.

Her pain is that even the photos were barely shared, and deleted, and never seen on the web, they might still show up in the future, years from now.

Could care less. Too bad she didn’t get more. I love for her to bring LA to its knees. Perhaps require the city to desolve.

In my best “Rick from Pawn Star’s,” voice, I’ll give you $250,000.00 (two-hundred and fifty-thousand / 1/4 of a million dollar’s) for that ring, that’s the best I can do.

Civil lawsuits aren't exclusive to L.A. This one is just interesting for its outrageousness.

IIRC he settled with her...with a non-disclosure agreement (kinda like Harvey Weinstein)...and at one point said something like “I can see where she might have been uncomfortable”. All of which screams “guilty as charged”.
