FBI agents found dozens of classified documents in Mar-a-Lago search: sources

FBI agents found dozens of classified documents during their search of Trump’s Mar-a-Lago on Monday, sources confirmed to NewsNation.

Investigators discovered classified documents in two areas: Trump’s personal office above a ballroom and in a storage room near the pool. Sources say there were “boxes everywhere,” with some containing Top Secret Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI). Those are considered some of the highest level of classified documents.

Since the documents are so secretive, it’s unknown whether investigators will ever publicly acknowledge what they’re in reference to, let alone release them.

Did the POTUS know they’d been placed in Mar-a-Lago?

Were they planted by the informant in Jan 2020

Later?

If POTUS did know..are they still classified, or did he defacto declassify them?

If a president declassifies documents, they are declassified no matter WHAT is marked on them, or WHAT some “expert” says. The CIC defines what is classified and what is not, by dint of will. He does not have to check with anyone on this. FACTS

If President Trump declassified those documents before he left office, they are no longer classified.

A sitting president can declassify any document he wants.

Is it possible that these documents were formerly classified? How would the FBI know the difference?

Just how serious is this documents dispute and why the drastic action of historically the first time a search warrant has been issued against a sitting or former President? There are degrees if importance in determining such a drastic action, particularly if there is a legal dispute as to whether he is entitled to have them, as opposed to issuing a subpoena. So, are we to believe that Trump has all the top secret plans on how to build a nuke in his basement and he is about build them himself or about to sell them to Russia, China, Iran and George Soros? Outside of that, if we go down the slippery slope of search warrants over subpoenas against Presidents, we may reach the point where they are being issued over someone stealing the silverware or the furniture from the White House on their way out.

The statute for unauthorized possession, handling of classified information was posted days ago. It includes a prohibition against running for elective office.

This was a setup. This report contains bits that are not at all credible.

1. Would Donald Trump have Top Secret Sensitive Compartmented Information anywhere on his personal property without guard?

2. Would Donald Trump have declassified documents on his property without guard that were NOT marked declassified?

3. Would Donald Trump declassify documents, have them left unmarked declassified and not have a copy of his accompanying declassification order listing the dates and captions/serial #’s of such documents attached to the documents?

Let’s pray that the report of Trump watching and recording the entire raid on CCTV is a pre-planned trap to take down our enemy within.

A friend of mine was an Army clerk for a General and received clearance to look at top secret documents. He said he was really excited until he found out most of the material was newspaper and magazine clippings.

My guess is that the FIB, working on behalf of the January 6 commission, were looking for letters between Trump and Putin, Kim Jung Un, Xi, etcetera. Something they can take out of context and use against Trump in the same way they used the Ukranian phone call.

Why else would they demand the surveillance cameras be turned off?

—————————————————————————

This is just yet another contradiction in his whole sordid mess of he said, she said.

If in fact the FBI turned off Trump’s security cameras, then how did Trump and his family watch the raid going on on CCTV?

And did I imagine it, or did I read that Trump had been subpoenaed back in April for these documents? There is no way President Trump would be found with unauthorized classified documents if he had them, and if he knew the FBI was going to come for them. No way.

Indeed. It’s not as clear cut as many (including Patel) would have us believe.

There are some, like Patel, who believe that a President can declassify at will, and if every jot and tittle isn’t followed then “so what?”

Then there are others who say that the regulations for declassification also must even apply to the President because if not there’s no chain of custody and no way to know or control who has access to such documents.

Surprisingly NBC has a pretty balanced article on the matter here, that people would be remiss to ignore or brush off just because it’s NBC. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/donald-trump/trump-allies-say-declassified-mar-lago-documents-experts-say-unclear-w-rcna42311

Once again, as is the norm in Trump world for all his supporters, it’s not clear cut that he’s done “nothing wrong”. Sure it can be hashed out in court and if it comes to it I’m sure he will bring it to court “because he’s a fighter”. Yeah.

Here’s the thing though, if he just hadn’t brought the documents with him, none of this would have happened. Or, bothered to at least declassify them properly (instead of just declaring them “declassified” and that’s it, which again according to some experts isn’t good enough). All of that would’ve been too simple I guess.

I’ve had enough of this kind of “winning” myself.

Critical thinking skills about this issue are essentially non-existent across the political spectrum.

You quote Patel: “The White House counsel failed to generate the paperwork to change the classification markings, but that doesn’t mean the information wasn’t declassified,” he continued. “I was there with President Trump when he said ‘We are declassifying this information.’”

Alas, I'm not sure that follows. If I say to my lawyer "I am making a new will to leave everything to Jim Robinson to help fund Free Republic," that doesn't cause any legally effective change. JimRob doesn't get the money unless my lawyer generates the paperwork (i.e., drafts the will) and I sign it with the required formalities.

This may be yet another instance when Trump's plans are sabotaged by lazy or incompetent underlings.

The bright side is that it could go to intent. Trump isn't a lawyer. If he thought the documents had been declassified, and therefore took them, maybe he didn't commit a crime because he didn't knowingly take classified documents. In that case, the government would have a right to retrieve the classified documents, and the search warrant may have been justified for that purpose, but a criminal prosecution would fail.

Not a chance in hell Trump “forgot” to declassify anything. If he puts in an executive order that all those documents are declassified, they are. Period. Doesn’t matter if the agency or person takes their time doing the actual work. I’d he says they are, they are. Period.

“It includes a prohibition against running for elective office.”

So you are saying this statute is applicable to former Presidents.

I’m calling bullshit.

“When the President does it,that means it is not illegal.”

Since the election of Washington this has been the way Presidential politics worked for 233 years.

However, in the Trump Era the kooks & crazies have crossed the Rubicon.

Where these lunatics are headed nobody knows.

Yes. IMO both “sides” are hyperventilating right now with little actual fact to go on, with this issue as with virtually all others in the past.

But facts be damned. “We” have a favorite guy to promote/protect. (Trump with die hard support from the “right” Biden with his die hards from the left).

I’m done with idolatry myself.

They don’t care. They lie on their 302 field reports, lie on their after action reports and even lie in court, under oath.

The key to this entire incident is to realize that the FIB team that raided Maro Lago was flown in from DC.

Aka the Gestapo.
