FBI agents found dozens of classified documents in Mar-a-Lago search: sources

FBI agents found dozens of classified documents during their search of Trump’s Mar-a-Lago on Monday, sources confirmed to NewsNation.

Investigators discovered classified documents in two areas: Trump’s personal office above a ballroom and in a storage room near the pool. Sources say there were “boxes everywhere,” with some containing Top Secret Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI). Those are considered some of the highest level of classified documents.

Since the documents are so secretive, it’s unknown whether investigators will ever publicly acknowledge what they’re in reference to, let alone release them.

Doesn’t everyone store their important papers near the pool?

My guess is that the pool storage room didn’t have a security cam or it was blocked or obscured by foliage or a patio umbrella. So of course that’s where they “found” all the very best evidence.

Hi.

Before you can box up documenta you must review the documents, and at that time the president makes the determination on security classification.

Unlike the WH silverware.

There is a process previously established for all presidents.

Do you see criminal liability here for Trump?

No matter, this is the attempted birth of a banana republic.

Strap yourself in, it’s going to be a bumpy ride. Bloat and enjoy the circus.

The “rules” you allude to, don’t matter in DC. DC is an enclave of persons working directly or indirectly for federal government, including “news media.”

WAPO was purchased by Bezos in 2011-2012 for 125 million. WAPO had been on the verge of bankruptcy. Bezos’s Amazon hadn’t made a profit since it’s inception, when CIA suddenly signed Amazon to an initial 10 Billion contract with many more 10 Billion renewals to follow, for cloud services. Part of the initial 10 Billion was earmarked to purchase WAPO. WAPO is a media organ of the CIA.

Bezos was raised by a CIA father; connected. Not super intelligent, just connected.

What this illustrates is DC media is desperately dependent on outside $$$, not from individual subscribers.

To get leaked info, to live in and around high-priced DC, to recruit and retain reporters that can keep the flagship afloat, the owners of news outlets must dance to the tune of those controlling, leaking information, and who pay for bulk subscriptions. For example. Politico Magazine was subscribed by companies for their employees. The magazines were most often never read.

The Hill is owned by Jimmy Finkelstein, but he can’t run it. He had DC-based staff revolting at John Solomon, and he had to let staff get their wish, to have Bob Cusack promoted to Editor in Chief.

And the Hill staff are typical DC cultivated liberals.

In the spectrum of ideology, The Hill is a little right of far left, but still left. But they call themselves moderate, because Finkelstein likes Trump. But note again. Finkelstein can’t do a thing about the liberal staff, other than shut the doors and close down the business.

A generalization would be to treat anything and everything originating in DC-based media with doubt and suspicion.

“This is so stupid. Trump controls which documents are classified or not. If he says a document is unclassified, it is. So how could he possibly break the law in classified documents?”

It’s mind boggling isn’t it. This is the biggest story of the year and nobody is asking the two most important questions that would end this nonsense instantly.
1)Did Trump declassify these documents?
2)Are these the same documents that the FBI looked at in June and left there and told Trump to just put a new lock on the door?

“Since the documents are so secretive, it’s unknown whether investigators will ever publicly acknowledge what they’re in reference to, let alone release them.”

Sounds fishy to me. Why did they wait almost 19 months to get them if they were so important?

“Trust us, it’s so secret we can’t even tell you what it is we found. We’re not lying this time like we did for a FISA warrant, Russian Collusion, Impeachment 1 and Impeachment 2. This time it’s for real.”

Of course they did; if they did not I am sure they had forged docs to insert. That’s why no cameras were allowed nor observers.

Among all the noise, you bring up a valid point.

Is there a process for this? Was it followed?

That is what is relevant.

But….most folks here are as emotional as AOC.

In other words, someone in the h”ighly professional” FBI is again leaking information to the press when it suits their purposes.

“ The White House counsel failed to generate the paperwork to change the classification markings, but that doesn’t mean the information wasn’t declassified,” he continued.”

So we are blaming his incompetent staff again? Did this guy have anyone working for him who did what they were supposed to?

I believe it was first leaked to the Wall Street Journal and The Hill picked up the story from there.

And I have no idea how their Wall Street Journal got it.

The president has the power to declassify documents, but it has to be done in written form with some eyes dotted and t's crossed. I know he did do that with respect to the crossfire hurricane documents, for example.

However, he cannot declassify documents after he left office, and he cannot "mentally" or verbally declassify documents while in office. So it is at least possible that he has documents in his possession that are classified that he did not properly declassify.

That being said, this is very likely still a ridiculous overreach

Good points. You also are required to have a need to know to read a classified document. You just can’t read any classified document you choose to. Which brings up a very good point about the FIBs.

Well, kinda smells like bull that someone failed to change the markings

I have in the past deleted classification markings from documents as it was directed that they be downgraded declassified

Its not brain surgery

A former president cannot declassify documents anytime he wants. Only the current president can do that. But assuming Trump did it while he was in office, he is entitled to keep those documents even if they still have that stamp.

Of course I see criminal liability here for Trump. Don’t you?How could you not after 6 years of this get Trump at all costs BS? The Stasi DOJ and FBI would have no problem planting evidence or making something that was once just a civil dispute between the Prez and the NA a capitol crime.
And the question is: Did Trump declassify this stuff? I know Kash Patel said he did and I trust him, but apparently there is a proper procedure to follow. Was it followed?
