temperature drop of nearly 60 degrees in the Centennial State means rare sights from a late-spring storm that promises to cover the ground in parts of the state with snow.
More than a foot of snow fell in places like Black Forest and Aspen Park.
As of Saturday morning, more than 50,000 were without power.
The frozen precipitation began falling across large parts of the state by Friday afternoon.
Videos from communities such as Castle Rock, Lone Tree and Aurora showed the first flurries coming down.

It 47 in Longmont now, Warming up.
My panels produced only 10% throughput the one time they were covered with a layer of thin snow and ice this year until the snow melted the ice by 10 AM. That's in Alabama.
I couldn't imagine the feasibility of solar in Colorado with thick snow covering panels for 30% of more of the year, in an area further north getting less sun, requiring more energy at night to heat your home (read: needing lots more battery storage to make it through most nights) instead of more of the power consumption being during the day to run the A/C like we do in the south (read: most power consumed is during the day, less need for battery storage to power the house through the night).
Solar is like everything else in life. If you do it as a DIY type project after careful analysis and making sure it fits your lifestyle and financial plan, it's a good thing. But if you do it to make yourself feel good about your politics, it's about as dumb as an Aflac commercial with Saban and Sanders. LOL
Thanks.
I mudered them.

We ALWAYS hear, “hottest (insert month day week year etc here). But never coldest ever. Where I am we have been, on average, 5 to 10 degrees cooler than ever for two months straight. Global warming. Oh, sorry. Climate change.
From Wiki...
"In Reno, the temperature reaches or dips below the freezing point on 122 days per year. However, it rises above freezing on all but 4.1 of those days."
Living in south west Colorado Springs, overnight we got 18 inches of snow and forecast to snow till 6:00PM.
I played in a golf tournament yesterday and was overnight transported to Siberia.
Many trees and branches are down.
Don’t depend on the weather forecast, just look out the window and see what it is really doing.
its May 21st and our heat is still on and the house was about 65degrees when I woke up...got down to upper 30’s last night.
Paging Algore…
28 about 50 miles SE of Reno at 6 am.
The big ash tree in my back yard is now 12 feet shorter this morning.
As I left Colorado recently the place has had major snow falls nearly weekly, which is unusual.
“Was 32 in Reno this a.m..”
He shot a man in Reno.
