Kathy Barnette SURGES in PA primary polling as Dr. Oz stumbles

With two weeks to go before the hotly contested Pennsylvania Republican Primary, a new poll shows that race is now a statistical 3-way tie between Dr. Mehmet Oz, Kathy Barnette, and Dave McCormick.

According to the new Trafalgar Group poll, Trump endorsed Oz was at 24.5 percent, Barnette was at 23.2 percent and McCormick was at 21.6 percent in the race to be the nominee for the seat of retiring GOP Senator Pat Toomey.

The survey was conducted between May 6 and May 8. The poll consisted of 1080 likely 2022 GOP primary voters, had a response rate of 1.44 percent and a margin of error of 2.99 percent.

Pundits theorized that Barnette is surging due to her recent debate performance and Oz was falling due to his heavy negatives with Republican voters. During the debate last Wednesday, Barnette spoke about her mother, who was only 11-years-old when she was raped by a man 10 years her senior. Barnette was the result of that rape, and her gratitude to her mother for carrying her and giving her life was clear.

"Whether this was a leak or whether this was a tactical operation we will soon figure out," she said in response to a question about the recent, unprecedented leak of a draft majority opinion from the Supreme Court that could overturn Roe v. Wade.

"One thing is clear, I am so very grateful that our nation is now having a very important conversation, and that is the most important conversation, that is about life. I am the byproduct of a rape," she said.

"My mother was 11-years-old when I was conceived. My father was 21. I was not just a lump of cells. As you can see, I'm still not just a lump of cells. My life has value. And that is one of the reasons why it was so very disturbing when I saw Mehmet Oz running for this particular race." Barnette said she had seen Oz, on "numerous occasions," including on podcast The Breakfast Club, where in 2019 he said that six weeks into a woman's pregnancy, a baby's heart is just "a cell" with "little electrical changes." Oz is a surgeon who has performed operations on infants.

"And the other thing is this whole thing about heart beating," Oz said at the time. "I mean, they're electrical changes at six weeks, but the heart's not beating … If you were to say, starting when we can hear the heart, like when the heart's really doing something, that'd be different. That's not six weeks, though."

Barnette asked Oz if he had changed his position on that. Oz did not say whether he had or had not changed his view but said, "One of the toughest endorsements you could ever get is from your mother-in-law. My mother-in-law is an ordained minister. She wrote a lot of the pro-life literature in Montgomery County where we live, and she certainly understands that I'm pro-life."

"As a heart surgeon I've operated on small children few days old and witnessed the majesty of their hearts pounding blood even though it's ill because I'm operating not to those bodies. I would never think of harming that child or even nine months earlier because life starts at conception," Oz said.

In her closing statements, Barnette said "I am you Pennsylvania and like you I believe this is the greatest country that has ever existed, but like you, I believe our country is in trouble. I believe that America that allowed me to claw my way out of dire poverty is about to come to a close."

"This time you do not have to hold your nose to vote for the lesser of two evils. I am in a statistical tie for first place, so voting for me is not throwing your vote away."

"Listen, go to my Facebook page by Kathy Barnett for Senate and you will see exactly what I'm doing today that I will amp up tomorrow after this race. You will see me in rooms full of black people changing their voter registration from Democrat to Republican, you will see me downtown and Chinatown. They are mine. You will see people ushering me in front of a roomful of Amish people with them introducing me as someone with their values."

"Not only do I have a grasp on our own base, but I can go into every nook and cranny and take the votes that we need in order to really be better than in the general election. So, let's go do this." Barnette received a massive round of applause after the remarks.

Rumor is Malania liked OZ, so that’s why he got the nomination...

Oz is terrible... I am hopeful Kathy pulls off the upset, I will not support OZ in the fall if he is the nominee... Let the D’s have it, and then fight for a decent candidate rather than put another RINO hack in there just to betray us when it matters again.

Held my nose enough, Specter, Santorum, Toomey, won’t do it any longer, and I know I’m not the only one.

Romney and Cox betrayed their constituents and will not likely run for re-election. One of my distant cousins is on the state GOP committee and despises both with a purple passion.

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Melania was also the one who proudly announced that Trump was the first president to enter office supporting homosexual marriage. Now she’s pushing the twisted Oz over an extraordinary black female conservative. But Melania looks good so don’t dare say that she’s anything less than the greatest flotus ever.

I have no idea if the rumor is true, but it is the rumor…

One bad endorsement to keep in Melania’s good graces may have been thr calculus.

I tend to think Oz’s name recognition will far outpace Fetterman’s appeal. We’ll see.

Could be. Certainly McCormick will keep the George Lincoln Rockwell Project types on board.

I’m not claiming to know anything - just wondering why you thought it would be his votes that would get carved up.

I would never call you names.

I have never met Dr. Oz, so I can't speak personally, but I think he's a very poor candidate for a Republican.

I am pretty tired from work, so I don't feel up to posting links now, but for a quick recap:

He has been very pro-abortion, pro-transgender (especially kids), pro-LGBT, and most other Hollywood positions, including recnetly.

He's a citizen of Turkey and he still votes in their elections.

But most importantly, I have a hard time believing in his sincerity about politics. Has he ever expressed that he was conservative or Republican before he decided to run for this race? As far as I can tell, he never expressed any such opinion, or said he was a Republican before he woke up and wanted to run for Senator. Quite the opposite. So, why should I all of the sudden believe he is sincere about this?

If someone loves Oprah, I guess they want to vote for him, but Oprah isn't in charge of the GOP yet.

I've never heard if his daughter until today. What does she do?

Oh, I forgot one thing: I always thought Dr. Oz is a terrible doctor. I can elaborate later.

Your comments about Fetterman are true. He’s seen as the champion of the blue-collar worker. He’s a Harvard grad. He would have the support of Pittsburghers. I’m afraid the seat is going to the Democrats.

Excellent summary. Pennsylvanians in the “T”, and I’m one of them, who would never vote for carpetbagger Oz. Trump has lost his mind. And guess what he said about Oz when he was at his Greensburg, Pa. rally? “Oz’s wife will make a great first lady for Pennsylvania.” Oz is running for the Senate, not the governorship of Pennsylvania. Trump doesn’t know that?? Shows how much homework he’s done for this endorsement. Butt out of Pa. politics, Trump. You know nothing about them.

I think Fetterman is running for the wrong office. As a former mayor and sitting lieutenant governor, the guy should have been a no-brainer to run as Wolf's successor in the governor's office instead of wasting his personality and presence as a useless legislator.

Since he's beholden to the party leadership, he probably had to accept the Senate run as the crumbs from the table after Shapiro decided to run for governor.

She'll have my vote if she wins the GOP primary, but Kathy Barnette has the thinnest resume of anyone I've seen running for a seat in the U.S. Senate. "Fox News Political Commentator" isn't even a real job.

If this is the best the Pennsylvania GOP has to offer in defending a Republican seat in the U.S. Senate, then we are doomed.

The “best” the GOP of PA has to offer is a slimeball carpet bagging tv personality and a trust fund manager… and because they are so bad, Kathy actually may pull off the upset.

Don’t kid yourself the GOP of PA (official party structure) want nothing to do with her, if she wins the nomination the party will only offer token support to her, she’s going to have to win by a literal grassroots campaign.

My guess was that if he was in third place, some (many?) wouldn’t want to waste their vote & would choose between Barnette and Oz.
