President Joe Biden on Thursday slammed the 80 million Americans who have yet to get a COVD vaccine shot, asking them 'what more is there to wait for.'
'This is not about freedom or personal choice. It's about protecting yourself and those around you, the people you work with, the people you care about, the people you love. My job as president is to protect all Americans,' he said in remarks in the State Dining Room at the White House.
'We've been patient but our patience is wearing thin. And your refusal has cost all of us. So please do the right thing,' he said.
He charged the unvaccinated with 'overcrowding our hospitals and overrunning emergency rooms intensive care units, leaving no room for someone with a heart attack or pancreatic cancer.'
The president decried the 'pandemic politics' that he said was behind those who had not yet gotten a shot in the arm, calling out public officials who were 'actively working to undermine the fight against COVID-19.'
'These pandemic politics, as I refer to, are making people sick, causing unvaccinated people to die. We cannot allow these actions to stand in the way of protecting the large majority of Americans who have done their part and want to get back to life as normal,' he said.
He ended his nearly 30 minute speech with a whispered plea: 'Get vaccinated.'
'My message to unvaccinated Americans is this - what more is there to wait for?,' Biden said. 'What more to you need to see? We've made vaccinations free, safe, and convenient. The vaccine has FDA approval. Over 200 million Americans have gotten at least one shot.'

The delta variant came from India.
It only takes one infection.
The multiple millions of employees who lost their jobs via small businesses going bankrupt or closing. Those employees would have been free from the mandates. But, they probably found a new job working for a larger corporation. Hence, they are now bound to the mandate.
The only time I was in hospital last year was for cataract surgery and a colonoscopy...only there a few hours...

You are correct, the Delta variant came from India. The Lambda variant came from South America. Regardless, “It only takes one infection” is an unscientific response typical of liberal, in the same vain as “If it will save the life of one child.” I doubt if you get out of the bed in the morning.

We live our lives with all kind of risks, some risks like driving a car, are thought to be acceptable. Other risks, like skydiving, may be deemed unacceptable.
I am provaxx, I work in health care so I was able to get my first vaccine in Dec 2020. I made that decision for myself because I understand the risks and benefits. I am not prepared to demand others receive a vaccine they do not want. My employer, a large medical center, now requires the vaccine as a condition of employment. I am ok with that, too. When I accepted my position I was required to have a number of vaccines (hepatitis, etc) and we have had mandatory flu shots for many years. I am opposed to the federal government imposing these requirements on private employers. I think that is the conservative position.

This virus can and will be eradicated. I did grad time in Immunology at UMSL, and am part of a group of peers, though some are docs, in a virology discussion group.
I purchased and read ten books on smallpox history last month. They never thought they could do it either.
I have worked in molecular biology at the bench level for three biotech companies across the country, created mabs, worked with vaccinia,and bled way too many mice.

I am 63 and want to have my life back. Science is amazing and the scientists I worked and studied under were the most dedicated, brilliant, driven people I have ever known.
