Senate GOP publicly pushing NH Gov. Chris Sununu to run for Hassan seat

Senate Republicans are actively courting New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu to challenge Sen. Maggie Hassan in next year’s midterms.

Hassan (D-NH) was governor of the state until 2016, when she opted to challenge then-Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) instead of run for a third term.

She won, and Sununu, a Republican, went on to beat Democrat Colin Van Ostern by more than two points in the gubernatorial race.

Actually he is very popular in NH in spite of the “Sununu” name.
I have family living there and he is fixing things the GOP-e has ignored for decades.

The Sununu family is one of most entrenched members of the GOPe cabal, but he might also be the best we can do in NH these days.

Same old same old. More people who are not in our corner from the stupid party. But NH will have Hasssan by hook, crook, or fraud anyway. It’s like watching a Worlds Series between a team you hate and a team you don’t like.

This is a case where a Trump Hat wearing MAGA supporter probably has no chance of winning, is Sununu a slam dunk great choice, NO, but compared to the Democrat he would be light years better....

No to Sununu, not today, not ever.

Remember how his daddy gave us confirmed bachelor David Souter as a “conservative” on the Supreme Court. Like the Bush, Romney, and Cheney families, the Sununus are enemies of conservatism.

This is the same argument for why we're supposed to like Susan Collins - there's undoubtedly some validity to it, but I don't like Collins and I doubt I'd like the son of the man who gave us David Souter.

That is sort of my my take. The one I want to see go is John Cornyn.

The GOPe - Rhino Branch, sees the writing on the wall. They're lining up their calves to be the “new” GOP (e-RB).

That’s right, a Trump Hat wearing MAGA supporter can and probably would win comfortably in Texas....pick your battles and win the fights where you can....

John Thune in South Dakota and Lisa Murkowski in Alaska are two more Senators who need to be sent packing...

Throw in Liz Cheney in Wyoming who has to run statewide is a 3rd person that needs to have the political careers brought to an end....

Sununu would at least make the Democrats defend NH with attention and money. If he won, he’d be another Bush League RINO. I guess that’s better than a Democrat because judges or something.

Since when do we have to kiss somebody’s butt to get them to run? The top tier candidate is IN OUR LEADERSHIP. When they don’t run they don’t lead. We’re then left behind. What does that say about anyone who doesn’t want to be in the world’s most exclusive club? Too many instances. Name them. I’ll start with Sarah.

A RINO shit sandwich is a better option than a BLM or Communist Shit sandwich....which could happen in New Hampshire....

It’s not a great option either way, but I would take a 75% Republican over a 100% communist...

Nope. I wont participate in voting for a RINO. You squishes are on your own.

To each their own...if the Supreme Court gets increased by 4 Judges, if DC gets Statehood, if the filibuster is gotten rid of by 1 vote by a communist from New Hampshire....then what ??

Plenty of other Conservative battles where we can win, like Texas, South Dakota and Alaska, a 3 to 1 ration of winning is pretty good....

They do not have to kiss Sununu’s butt. HE has been running for US Senate for years. The governor’s office is just a stepping stone. He is a very popular governor in NH where 1/3 of the electorate calls themselves independents.

NH has an open primary system and same day registration. So, an independent can become a Republican and then change back to be an Undeclared right after voting. Sununu won reelection in a landslide last November. The polls have him winning against Maggie Hassan.

WE need to pick our battles. Sununu, while far from perfect is MUCH better than Hassan. As a resident of NH. I will hold my nose and vote for him.
