The Senate voted Tuesday to move ahead with the unprecedented impeachment trial of former President Trump after listening to hours of arguments on whether it is constitutional to try a president who is already out of office.
The vote was 56-44.
Trump's legal team said the trial is unconstitutional because he's no longer in office and can't face removal, which is the standard judgment of an impeachment conviction.

The Constitution is dead, as is this country, unless something miraculous happens soon.

These senators could live to be 110 and Donald Trump will still be inhabiting their heads as they pass from this world.
It’s truly mass insanity, and pure hatred. I wonder if the whole lot of them have been hypnotized or something. I can hardly believe what I’m witnessing.

Idiots just made impeachment a plank on the platform now. “If you elect me, I’ll immediately move to impeach...” is going to be a thing.

They had a D.O.A. come in at the hospital, but no worries - the senate voted that the corpse is still alive. Now it is doing fine, but its still dead.

Where is Bill Cassidy from? I will cut Susan Collins a little slack given her constituency. The others, not so much?

I’ve said this right after they stole it. I’ll never vote again. And no, I never will. They should have burned the whole place down.

Yep, not only have they removed our right to fair elections, they also now are dictating to us who can and cannot run for office. To me, it’s not so much to get revenge against Trump, but to warn us. It’s tyranny.

44 think it is unconstitutional. That’s far short of the 2/3rd requirement to “convict” and it would be unconscionable that they would later vote for a matter they believe to be illegal.
But the show must go on!

Unfortunately ALL the lawyers have been warned NOT to defend Trump..his best lawyer cowered under the pressure from the lawyes institute threatening to punish them. It's up to us ..75 million, if there are still 75 million on his side! People are fickled and scared to fight this evil government..if we don't they won't hesitate for one minute to come after us. If they can come after an ex-president think about how absolutely incredibly vicious they are and will stop at nothing to hunt us down! All they need to do is MAKE UP SOME CONSTITUTIONAL LAW and vote on it giving the middle finger to the Supreme Court and lower courts along with A HUGE FU TO THE US CONSTITUTION!!!

Forget these six.
There are many more illegitimate Senators. They are all illegitimate, although the following 8 can be argued to be legitimate.
Cruz, R-Texas
Hawley, R-Mo.
Hyde-Smith, R-Miss
Kennedy, R-Lou
Lummis, R-Wyo
Marshall, R-Kan
Tuberville, R-Ala
Scott, R-Fla

A couple of them will vote against impeachment and later say, “I believed it was constitutional but Trump was not guilty of an impeachable offense. So I voted for the trial but not impeachment.” I was for it before I was against it. Hopefully Cassidy’s voters are not as stupid as he thinks they are.
