U.S. Rep. Val Demings of Orlando says she is “keeping the door open” for a potential run for governor or U.S. senator next year. “I certainly would not talk about any private conversations that I’m having,” Demings, D-Orlando, said in an interview with the Washington Post on Tuesday. “But as I said, there’s plenty of work to do in the House right now. If that would take me to another campaign, then I’m keeping that door open.” Demings, in her third term representing District 10 in western Orange County, gained national attention last year for her role as a House impeachment manager during former President Trump’s first trial in the Senate. The former Orlando Police chief was also on President Biden’s shortlist for a running mate last summer before he chose Kamala Harris. ‘When you’re looking at statewide candidates, whether it’s for governor or senator, then, of course, every state wants the most qualified, the most experienced person who brings unique perspectives, unique backgrounds to the table,” Demings said. “I just want states to start realizing that many times, the most experienced person in the room just happens to be a woman. And guess what, [she] just might be a woman of color.”

Florida’s next Dem challenger is our current Ag Sec................
Don’t Florida DEM gubernatorial candidates have to first earn street cred by getting caught in a hotel room, naked, passed out, with a same sex prostitute and lots of meth?
She better start working on that...
Demmings idiot husband is the only reason I have to wear masks now. They can both go to hell.
She ain’t running against Rubio or DeSantis. No shot at either race.
I would guess the Ag sec you mentioned will wait until the seat is open in 5 years. Much easier than beating an incumbent in what will be an anti Democrat cycle. She is the only democrat statewide office holder. They won’t want to waste her chance. They’ll probably run a retread like Crist or someone of that sort this time.
I gather this is to challenge Rubio next year.
On our side, I wonder if Ivanka will actually wage an intraparty bid against Marco, which seems to backfire most of the time.
Also, thoughts on Pam Bondi’s future. She’s not even involved in PDJT’s defense team next week.
She has no shot at either
I hope you are right, but going by this site, if Rubio is the nominee, Val will walk into the Senate pretty easily.
So as someone who doesn’t live in Florida, is DeSantis vulnerable?
He seems like one of the few Governors in the country that isn’t a moron and has handled things correctly.
I do think that he and all of the Red State governors should be getting out in front of this “systemic racism” bs, but then I’m not a political animal.
The Rats are going to throw everything at DeSantis in 2022. I expect it to be the most expensive Gubernatorial race in US History.
They know if he prevails, he’s a lock for the GOP nomination in 2024, or 2028.
He’s good. He will face two criticisms for sure..The coronavirus numbers and being a Trump supporter. For us, that is music to our ears. To Independents, not sure anymore. It is going to be close as always in Florida. The 2020 election was the best we’ve done ever. But unfortunately Trump won’t be on the ballot.
I hear about her. Not thrilled that the only person to win state wide election is possibly going to run for higher office. I am not sure why she won State AG, But Nikki is probably dangerous.
Her picture is on every gas pump in the state.............
A “woman of color”, she says. Wow. MLK would be soooooooo impressed. /s Barf.
MLK wouldn’t even recognize this country today. I am sure that most people who have died in the 60’s would be disgusted at what they see. Maybe impressed with technology, but otherwise, I am sure they’d be horrid at the sight.
God save us from either of these skanks.
She was a lobbyist for the marijuana industry.
2022 will be a whole new ballgame in Florida with the new jungle primary system that was just voted in as an ammendment to the Florida constitution.
What do you mean by the “jungle primary system?”
I don’t know anything about FL politics but if she is considered to be even a small threat, now is the time to start finding and ‘finding’ dirt on her. Don’t wait until it is too late.
The last time Cornyn was standing for a primary he actually had an opponent that seemed to have a small chance. The mud started slinging about a year before the actual election. Unfortunately for Cornyn’s opponent, Cornyn’s operatives ‘found’ enough dirt on the guy so that he was actually in jail by the time election day rolled around. Of course most charges were dropped right after election day.
That old saying is true: never put off manufactured dirt until tomorrow when it can be done today.
