A surge in coronavirus cases in counties critical to President Donald Trumps victory may disrupt his plans to drive up in-person voting on Nov. 3, potentially reducing Republican turnout in areas the president can least afford it.
In Kenosha, a Wisconsin county that voted for Barack Obama in 2012 and Trump in 2016, the positivity rate for COVID-19 test results has reached 27%. In relatively populous Westmoreland County in Western Pennsylvania where Trump won by more than 50,000 votes four years ago, the positivity rate for coronavirus cases has nearly tripled in two weeks, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
And Calhoun County, Michigan, which gave Trump a double-digit margin of victory in 2016 after narrowly voting for Obama in 2012, has recently seen the fastest spread of the virus of any county in the states lower peninsula.
Epidemiologists and political experts alike believe numbers like these point to an increasingly dire Election Day picture, in which spiking cases and diminishing hospital capacity in counties where Trump must run up the score could scare voters away from the polls.

Trump-voter suppression.
Well, that’s not at all suspicious...
No one should kid themselves. This was planned out months ago by the DEMs.
The election infection will soon be over.
This is the democrats plan to steal the election.
They are going to use their covid manufactured stats to try to lock down or slow down voting as much as they can on November 3rd in order to steal the election.
I think we should all vote early , vote tomorow in person ,
,so they dont lock everything down on November 3rd.
California is ominous. They mailed everyone a ballot to mail in a month ago. Republicans like to vote in person.
They will show up to vote in person, whether early voting or on Election Day, without the ballot in hand to turn in, because they forgot it or didn’t know to do that. Nowhere online or in the instructions anywhere is that even mentioned. They will therefore be only allowed to vote provisionally, and all those votes will be thrown out.
I would be surprised if the polls were closed-heard a local politico state "no way" when asked, with an indirect allusion to people not-so-peacefully marching on the state capitol if it were tried.
My observation: based on past behavior, people this year are having low to no trust in their "officials". As a dark undertone, I think this election carries the phrase:"this is your last chance to do the right thing".
Wow. Never would have seen that coming. (s)
Too convenient
Was this article originally written in March? (Semi-sarcasm)
??? What, are they going to shut down voting? I always vote election day.
All part of the plan to suppress the Trump vote. Don’t listen to them. We are not afraid!
Trump voters will not be denied, you can take that to the bank!
Like clockwork...here comes the fear porn as was predicted.
I am planning to vote on election day here in NC. Nothing but my own death would keep me from it.
??? What, are they going to shut down voting? I always vote election day”
imo Yes democrats will do this to steal the election. I think we all need to vote early asap in person.
Creating reality out of thin air.
If we vote early, will it be counted then or do they wait until Election Day to count the early votes? We were going to wait until Nov 3rd but I am not so sure now.
I don’t like to vote early. I vote at my station, on election day.
This could wind up sealing their fate. Unless they actually close down voting booths, then they may find that Covid-19 fear is highly correlated to TDS syndrome.
If they do close down voting booths, then a Constitutional crisis could ensue.
