Former President Barack Obama issued a statement late Friday night on the passing of Supreme Court Associate Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. The statement was posted to the online site Medium.
In the statement, Obama demanded the Republican controlled Senate not vote on any replacement for Ginsburg until a new president is sworn following the November presidential election. Obama cited his failed 2016 nomination of Judge Merrick Garland to back up his support for Ginsburg’s reported dying “instructions” that her replacement be nominated by a new president (“My most fervent wish is that I will not be replaced until a new president is installed.”)

If we honored this request, the Supreme Court could have only 8 members until 2025.
You KNOW her dying words weren’t those. More likely they were, “is anybody else hot”?
She rolled the dice hoping that Hillary Clinton would replace her in a big show of pomp and circumstance, passing the baton, woman to woman, yada yada yada, but she ended up crapping out instead.

I must have overlooked that part of the constitution which specifies that a supreme court judge gets to determine how and when they are replaced once they step down or pass away.

Hey, if RBG wanted to ensure that a demrat replaced her, she could have RESIGNED while Obama was Pres.
That was 3+ years ago and she had cancer then.
But no, she stayed on waiting for Hillary’s election which never came.

RBG was being interviewed and the interviewer asked why she didn’t retire so she could be replaced by Obama. She seemed to snort the answer which was something along the lines of, “And, who could take my place? Who could do what I do?”
In high school the band director was fond of saying, “Stick your finger in a bucket of water. Then pull it out. That is how irreplaceable you are.” Another thing he’d say was, “The cemetery is full of irreplaceable people.” Although I thought the director was a primo A-hole who clearly thought he was irreplaceable I feel he called that one perfectly.
Incidentally, RGB demonstrated, to me at least, that she was very far passed her best-by. But I was perfectly fine with her staying on until she accidently bumped into “The Unexpected Conservative.” (I am reminded of the joke where each day an old man stops by the front gate at the White House and says to the Marine that he wants to see President Obama. One day the guard says, “Every day I tell you that Obama is no longer the president, why do you keep coming by?” The old man says, “Because I love to hear you tell me that Obama is no longer the president.”)
STFU, Obama. You’re not in charge anymore.. and she NEVER was.

I need to refresh my memory on the Constitution and look for where a dying SC Justice’s last wishes and a former President’s desire determine when a SC nomination is made.AND... (a former president's statement)..."elections have consequences"!

It is a great virtue signal line though.
Do you defy your father’s dying wish or instructions? Most people would not.
Here again we see the use of “feelings” for the ‘rule of law.’ They can argue until they are blue in the face (pun), but Ginsburg isn’t the mother of the Supreme Court. She was just another public servant, who in many ways failed this country in preserving our Constitution.
Our loyalty must rest with the Republic.
