Truck depots are deliveries are more often than not in run down areas. I wouldn’t blame any trucking company to bail on a city who doesn’t protect them.

The reason WHY the left wants to defund police is SO THAT the “oppressed” underclass will take what is “rightfully” theirs from their “oppressors.”
His first priority is making money, not taking care of the drivers. Sorry, but that is the way the industry operates. Nice sentiment though-- truckers wish it were true, but it's not. A trucker could refuse to haul if he is working for a company. Then he'll get jammed with VERY undesirable loads that don't make money. Yes, there is retribution.
High value cargo is handled specially, to include check-ins, backing up to walls when you sleep, and constant monitoring. So there is mitigation.
There are a handful of companies that could literally stop the show: Werner, Schneider, and Swift. But they won't. Too much money, they will accept the risks.
Owner operators or anyone under a lease agreement could make a difference, but only temporary-- the big companies will take their freight and they will be out of a job once "freight agreement" documents are made, which are one step down from a contract.
If the trucking companies were unified, it would work. But they are not-- to include demographics. If you will not haul it, the Mexican, Russian, Indian, Pakistani, or whoever, will.
So don't look for a trucking siege. Especially in a trucking recession, which it has been for some time because everyone loves cheap freight.
All the more reason to be prepared.
So once again we have somebody pointing to a problem that’s NOT being solved by police and insisting it will be bad without police. Meanwhile I know a bunch of long haul truckers and the numbers of times they’ve been jacked is a combined ZERO. I think it really only happens when your company has mob ties, otherwise nobody knows what’s in your truck.

I use to drive for Werner who has a strict no gun rule, as do all of the big outfits. Some drivers actually followed that rule.
