At least one person was shot in downtown Austin on Saturday night in the midst of a protest, and medics are searching for additional victims, according to Austin-Travis County EMS.
The shooting happened around 9:50 p.m. at Sixth Street and Congress Avenue, and the public should avoid the area, EMS officials said. Callers reported that multiple people were injured, EMS officials said.
The person who was shot has life-threatening injuries, and medics have taken that person to the hospital, EMS officials said.
A protester, who filmed the scene via Facebook Live, said someone charged into the crowd and shot some of the protesters.
Austin police officials said they will update the public in the near future.
This is a developing story; check back for updates.

BREAKING: Protestor Shot in Austin By Someone Driving Through Crowd, 'Appears to Be Fatal' (VIDEO) https://t.co/cBn0dRsGJM pic.twitter.com/2FrXYyWUx0— Cassandra Fairbanks (@CassandraRules) July 26, 2020
Had to happen sooner or later.
Read this as “At least *I* shot...”
No one should put up with this attempt to impose prison rules upon free people.
That’s how I also read the headline...at first.
Fixed it.
Figure’s, liberal capitol of Texas. Hope they didn’t shoot the one conservative in Austin.
“Had to happen sooner or later”.
I agree. When the Gov’t allows the Lunatic Left to overrun a city while handcuffing the police, sooner or later some people will decide they’ve had it and take matters into their own hands.
The ones most likely to decide they’ve had enough is the small shop owner that had their life’s work destroyed by Leftist Rioters and Gov’t mandated shutdowns.
When protestors are allowed to terrorize people, this is bound to happen.
I see the BLM as a means to impose ‘prison rules’ upon the people.
Gangs, racially based, control the prisons.
Lot of people have been in prison, maybe too many, but it’s a system they all understand.,
Interesting that the Hispanics are not joining the “Black” gangs here.
Holding out for Trump and freedom? I don’t know.
Holding out for Trump and freedom?
= = = =
Could very well be.
Hoping so, anyway.
Exactly.
You have police standing down in all of these lib cities.
Business owners are told they are on their own...to protect their property.
Citizens are indicted for protecting their property.
Reminds me of the old Glenn Beck lessons (on our path to Communism)....
Top down, bottom up theory.
They’re trying to squeeze/pressure us into breaking.
Surest sign we are winning? Dearth of coverage on cnn ...keep it up leftys ...I say time to let them have the cities until nov 4th then major crackdown/war for a couple years
I heardctgat a car drove through the protest, and was fired on by a protester. The bullet hit another protester.
“medics are searching for additional victims”
So cops aren’t doing that, huh? Guess medics and social workers will get it sorted out.
Play stupid games . . ..
black militia in Louisville accidentally discharged a shotgun and wouded 3 of his "comrades".
*** Interesting that the Hispanics are not joining the Black gangs here. ***
Historically, at least in the Central Part of TX where I grew up, Blacks and Hispanics did not mix.
San Antonio, and Austin’s East Side were “Black” Austin’s South Side, and San Antonio’s West Side were Mexican.
Back in the day, when you would hear of a shooting on the news, you would assume it involved a “Black” shooting a Mexican, or vice versa.
IMO (that BLM is a prison code thing) that matters a lot.
USMEDIA will not allow a “white” resistance to BLM, but against an Hispanic one? What can they do without hurting their marketeers?
