The gun industry has never seen anything like 2020, and the explosion in sales driven by the concerns over rising crime, protests, the coronavirus crisis, and the presidential election are expected to continue.
“Bottom line is that there has never been a sustained surge in firearm sales quite like what we are in the midst of,” the National Shooting Sports Foundation, an industry trade group, said in a report shared with Secrets.
New sales and customer data collected from gun stores are even more shocking than the latest historic level of FBI background checks for purchases, security clearances, and concealed carry permits.
“Approximately 90 percent of retailers reported an increase in firearm and ammunition sales during the first half of 2020 versus the first half of 2019,” said the report.
Sales, meanwhile, aren't just to the traditional customer base of white males. The report said that the surge is among others, especially blacks, Asians, and Hispanics.

The only bad part of this is that it creates shortages.
And you know damn well if they ever do ban guns, they will only try to get them from law-abiding white people.
I'm surprised that blacks are falling behind the population in general on legal gun purchases.

My guess is that every one of them is a new Trump voter too.
You can’t buy a weapon if you’re a convict and so these must be law-abiding folk.
Inaction has consequences.
Lots of guns get bought by noobs only to be sold later to somebody who can legally buy.
Happens every day.
We shouldn’t judge minorities by what we see on the news. That’s not the majority of them. Most minorities are decent hard-working people who just want to raise a family and be left alone. There’s money to be made by showing the fringe element, so that’s what you are being shown. The people buying guns are buying them to deal with the rising crime and anti-police sentiment. People are realizing that if they call 911 there just might not be anyone to answer in the future.
Firearms training school attendance should be skyrocketing.
I’m sure you meant”can’t buy”, and I’m aware of straw man purchases, however, I’m of the opinion we’re looking at the vast majority of new purchases for self preservation.
Purchased my first shot gun this week, for home defense.
