The gun industry has never seen anything like 2020, and the explosion in sales driven by the concerns over rising crime, protests, the coronavirus crisis, and the presidential election are expected to continue.
“Bottom line is that there has never been a sustained surge in firearm sales quite like what we are in the midst of,” the National Shooting Sports Foundation, an industry trade group, said in a report shared with Secrets.
New sales and customer data collected from gun stores are even more shocking than the latest historic level of FBI background checks for purchases, security clearances, and concealed carry permits.
“Approximately 90 percent of retailers reported an increase in firearm and ammunition sales during the first half of 2020 versus the first half of 2019,” said the report.
Sales, meanwhile, aren't just to the traditional customer base of white males. The report said that the surge is among others, especially blacks, Asians, and Hispanics.

Honest question: How much of the sales to black Americans is for personal protection from everyone or is in anticipation of using them on police, military, and white Americans in the near future?
My guess is that blacks want protection, not weapons for war.
An absolute necessity for survival in these Democratic- gangster times.
People don’t typically purchase firearms legally with the intent to commit a crime. You buy something off the street for that. When you look at where many of the riots and looting have been happening, it’s often in black neighborhoods. A lot of people (particularly first time buyers) start buying guns and ammo when they’re feeling unsafe in their environment.
The rest of us just never stopped buying and probably never will.
They’re for personal protection.
I hope Blacks are waking up on how lousy they’ve been treated by Democrats and how lawless they really are. Time to wake up people!
I was at a Cabela’s in Louisiana recently. Gun counter was packed. Half of them were black. And they were older folks, not ones likely to be the bad guys.
I’m thinking it is representative of the Black-Americans distancing from BLM, Marxism, lawlessness, looting, arson, rioting. These folks will vote Trump (and hopefully R down ballot).

You’ll never know with certainty. At this juncture we’re at now everybody obviously feels a potential threat as lawlessness continues.
People we don’t want armed can’t pass a background check. Nothing to worry about when looking at legal gun sales. In fact, it’s the revolutionaries that should take note and chill out.
From what I have seen personally the black customers have been largely purchasing their first handgun. 80% of whom have been women.
Certainly looks, feels and sounds that way for many people. Heard one guy say in NY City he felt like his neighborhood was in the Iraq war.
Time to buy ammo was last year
