Wayfair product listings spark child trafficking conspiracy theory
nyPOST ^ | 7/10/2020 | Bruce Golding

A conspiracy theory emerged Friday that the Wayfair online store was using the sale of storage cabinets as a cover for child trafficking — which the home decor company immediately denounced as false.

A post on the social media website Reddit noted the high cost of the furniture — along with the fact that each item was identified by a female name — as potential evidence of the purported scandal, Newsweek reported.

The prices for the cabinets — called Alyvia, Neriah, Samiyah and Yaritza — ranged from $12,699.99 to $14,499.99 each, according to a screenshot posted in the “r/conspiracy” subreddit.

“Is it possible Wayfair involved in Human trafficking with their WFX Utility collection? Or are these just extremely overpriced cabinets? (Note the names of the cabinets) this makes me sick to my stomach if it’s true :(,” user PrincessPeach1987 wrote Thursday.

The post quickly drew more than 700 comments from the subreddit’s 1.3 million members, including the assertion that “some of the names are missing children.”

“i cant access the cabinets anymore, but i remember a cabinet called Samiyah for like 12K, which is also a missing child from this month!” user coffeeismymuse added.

In a statement, Wayfair said, “There is, of course, no truth to these claims.”

“The products in question are industrial grade cabinets that are accurately priced,” the company said.

Exactly, all the conflicting statements of why Wayfair was charging $10,000 plus for crappy furniture that sells normally for a couple hudred, with missing children’s names on each one is perfectly normal. Or pillows that would sell for a few bucks, selling for $10,000 each, with a missing child’s name on them, totally normal. Natural, happens all the time, means nothing, oops I mean pricing was a mistake, or something.

Nothing to see.

A kook is anyone who would give $9000 for a pillow. I don’t know what this is, but it’s something odd, maybe just money laundering, but there’s something going on.

Yeah, perfecly normal to overcharge stuff by thousands of dollars, and the CEO is pals with Ghislane Maxwell, and a member of the Clinton Foundation is on their board of directors, and the owner has a “help the children” foundation, etc.

Nothing to see, totally rational explanation, pricing mistkae, etc, just random coinicidence that missing children’s names are used to name their insanely overpriced products.

It all means nothing.

And how many customers will buy pillows or cabinets or ugly pictures of baby dinosaurs for $10,000 and up when they can buy the exact same type of items for a tiny fraction of the cost someplace else?

Hint: NONE.

Unless they’re actually “buying” something else.

HINT: A lot. Pricing for “lazy buyers” is a common eCommerce practice.

Hint: No one would be purchasing this insanely, wildly overpriced stuff.

It is very odd that you see nothing out of the ordinary selling $200 cabinets with names on them that also happen to be the names of missing children for thousands of dollars.

Very, very odd.

After looking at the pictures of the cabinets and reading that Wayfair stated that the prices were accurate, the conspiracy theory looks quite credible. Hopefully we will see more information in the future, but what we have is very fishy.

I had a theory that there would be plenty of overlap in the posters that believe this and also believe in other internet conspiracy theories in Chat. Theory proven correct.

This “conspiracy” is going to gain a lot of traction. Yesterday a researcher on twitter, with special technical abilities, was able to prove that Wayfair had photoshopped images of specifically titled books on some of the book shelves advertised. It was quite curious. I can’t remember the exact book titles but they were rather gruesome.
