'We Need to Have a Conversation'
American Thinker.com ^ | June 10, 2020 | Deanna Chadwell

Continually the left treats us to a whine about, well, about everything, and the complaint du jour always includes the phrase, “We need to have a national conversation,” as if just talking about a problem will fix whatever it is, and as if we can even talk anymore.

Recently, the ability to “have a conversation,” let alone actually solve a problem, has shriveled like a piece of rotting fruit. In part, the violence of this last week demonstrates that, but the problem has been a long time developing. Any productive conversation requires certain components, and if any are missing, communication, and therefore the development of solutions, becomes impossible.

Let me list these components:

Vocabulary: Those trying to talk to each other must have a common vocabulary that they use to mean the same things. Terms must not only be common, but stable – the meanings can’t vary or morph into something else at a moment’s notice. A colleague once raked me over the coals for using the word Hispanic to refer to our south-of-the-border immigrant students. Latino (or Latina) was okay, but Hispanic was offensive. Who knew?

Well, they tend to speak Portuguese in Brazil.

Pretty much all residents of Spain are Hispanic.

Wake me up when:
* adults take responsibility for their actions and other adults hold them accountable.
* “liberalism” is defined in the Webster dictionary as a Mental Disorder
* Politicians swear to uphold and defend the Constitution, and DO IT!
* the democrat party is in the ‘dustbin of history’.
* When unions (SEIU, UAW, Teachers Unions etc.) are disbanded and illegal.
* When “Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.” means something again.

I think I am in for a long nap.

I sent this via email to the local NBC affiliate.

Dear KXAN, I just finished reading Erik Henrikson's article "Austin’s history of systemic racism, explained" and wanted to express my appreciation for his work writing that piece.

I think that's a great way to open the door on the honest conversation we need to have on race relations. I would like to propose you follow up on that article with another (could be a multi-part series?) titled "The Democratic Party's history of systemic racism, explained". I think it's important for voters to know, especially in this election year, that the democrat party has always been discriminatory (often, with violence, including lynchings, murder and rape) towards blacks in the United States.

A good starting point for your timeline could be the founding of the KKK and how it was all democrats who were members. Not one Republican has ever joined that despicable organization. You can also reference a famous US Senator (the late Robert C. Byrd D-West Va) as being a Grand Kleagle in the KKK and as recently as the mid-90's when he was still a sitting senator, he loves to throw around terms like "niggers" with impunity.

Another part of your upcoming series should deal with LBJ's Great Society legislation. During discussions with his advisors leading up to the vote for passing this legislation, LBJ (Democrat) claimed "We get this passed, we'll have the niggers voting democrats for 200 years!".

These 2 suggestions should be enough for you to get started on your new series "The Democratic Party's history of systemic racism, explained". I'll be looking forward to reading this on your pages in the near future!

Keep up the great work, KXAN!

Leftists say they want a “conversation” about race. What they really want is to engage in a condescending lecture directed AT us about why we are racist.

I’m open to a real live conversation; they can choke on their lectures . . . not listening.

For years, I tried to converse with left thinking people, it’s impossible and absolutely not pleasant.
Now, I just shake my head, smile and never talk to the Leftie again.

They DO NOT KNOW how to have a conversation, soooo, come up with a better plan.

Because to the Left, "The Issue is Never the Issue, the Issue is always The Revolution!"

I’ve been trying to have a similar conversation with an old liberal friend of mine. I sent her an essay on the Covid crisis and riots, noting how long democrats have ruled those rioting cities. And other points, especially those of Trump’s walk across Lafayette Park.

She won’t continue this email “conversation” any more because we have different “facts.”

I cannot argue logically with her at all. They are totally unable to see things from a broader perspective or anything apart from the “narrative”.

Very depressing.

“Having a conversation “ means getting a one sided lecture “in yo face”.

Haha, yeah. The media would never report such things...it’d hasten the end of the democrat party.

1) never give up on your quest, although we think. “why bother.” You have planted seeds that might sprout.

2) If you were really “evil” you would ask questions to justify their position. Start watching Colulmbo to refine the techinque.

3) Proverbs has some application in the situation. Maybe you can help me understand what it is.

Pro 26:4 Don’t answer the foolish arguments of fools, or you will become as foolish as they are.
Pro 26:5 Be sure to answer the foolish arguments of fools, or they will become wise in their own estimation.

We’ve been having this conversation for 400 years.
Problem is, only one side is being allowed to be heard now, and it’s the side that shouts down rationality and the rule of law.
I’m pretty much done.

Thanks for the good points. I will keep sending her essays, and she can either read them or not.

I am hoping the bugs I put in her ear will lead to more open-mindedness.

Meanwhile, I wonder if she remembers what I said about FISA abuse, Biden’s ties to China, and the hypocrisy of black rulers of democratic cities.

We’ll see...
