RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - The Christopher Columbus statue has been torn down and thrown in the lake by protesters in downtown Richmond.
The Christopher Columbus statue is located in Byrd Park.
The statue was also set on fire before being thrown into the lake.

It seems to me that there needs to be a severe punishment for anyone who would attack a church, a library, a school, a public monument or statue, or any institution that reflected the values of the community at large.
