Profanity is spray painted along the rail line. Shattered glass littered the street. A downed traffic light and an overturned planter lay on sidewalks. Businesses were vandalized and at least one, a Verizon store location, was looted.

This is what downtown Houston looked like Saturday morning following a “Justice 4 George Floyd” demonstration held the day before, sparked by the death of George Floyd, a black man who died after a white policeman kneeled on his neck for several minutes.

This is in my neck of the woods. It's certainly not as bad as what's going on in the Twin Cities, Atlanta, Portland, and other places but I would say it's the worst I've seen out of any the Houston protests that I can remember.

Here's another story covering the police response and related injuries.

Our country is so screwed if people wimp out in this election and put a DEM in the White House.

“Ha haaaa!!! It was a rally!”

Good catch, Eagle eye. Teleprompter Propagandist’s euphemism for a totally destroyed area/city.

LOL.

Hey, Houston, how is that liberalism you are so prod of working?

Verizon Store

The hilarious irony is not a single device lifted from the Verizon Store will ever work. They are all bricked by now.

What does “bricked” mean? That they’ve been programmed to not work?

Here’s the MSM classifies riots.

gathering —> rally —> demonstration —> protest

So it looks like Houston got off easy.

Yes. The devices were wiped and the firmware remotely updated so they won’t even turn on. In many devices today this will happen even if they are not turned on (as the batteries are unable to be removed).

There might be some things like cables and speakers that will still work, as well as a few tablets but these days stores like that do not have much stock on hand.

I know many have said this in many ways, but bears repeating, namely, what does looting and burning down buildings have to do with grief or anger over some event? What does Verizon have to do with the death of George Floyd?

Absolutely nothing. It is just an opportunity to see when people of a similar ilk are at critical mass then you it is about theft and destruction and nothing else.

Whenever this type of event is even POSSIBLE, the blm and their cohorts start making room for their new TVs.

Looks like Houston got locals, amateurs.

80% of those arrested in Minn. were from out of state. White Antifa disruptors were breaking windows and doors and then leaving while the locals looted.

I certainly didn’t vote for Sylvester Turner, Lina Hidalgo, or Lizzie Fletcher (my representative). While it will be hard to elect people who are much better for mayor and county judge, I’m hopeful Wesley Hunt will be able to unseat Fletcher.

This is one of the reasons our cities look like trash dumps.

In other countries they are tracked down and punished.

I’ll be the first to say that for the most part, I’m proud that citizens and law enforcement lessened the chaos and loss of other cities. Sylvester has said that you can protest/march in the City of Houston but you won’t burn or destroy. Same thing in the 60’s when Louie Welch and Chief Herman Short said the same thing. We had the incident at TSU and they tried to wreak havoc but it wasn’t successful....and one of the outsiders that came to town to stir up trouble was sent home in a box.
