'The food supply chain is breaking,' Tyson says as plants close
CNN ^ | 26 April 2020 | Rob McClean

New York (CNN Business)Tyson Foods (TSN) is warning that "millions of pounds of meat" will disappear from the supply chain as the coronavirus pandemic pushes food processing plants to close, leading to product shortages in grocery stores across the country. "The food supply chain is breaking," wrote board chairman John Tyson in a full-page advertisement published Sunday in The New York Times, Washington Post and Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.

US farmers don't have anywhere to sell their livestock, he said, adding that "millions of animals — chickens, pigs and cattle — will be depopulated because of the closure of our processing facilities." "There will be limited supply of our products available in grocery stores until we are able to reopen our facilities that are currently closed," Tyson wrote.

No ribs, chicken or pork chops for BBQ season? It’s a national security issue.

Interesting that Trump is dead silent on the US oil industry tanking

What the hell are you talking about? He talks strongly about it at most press conferences.

You are both either grossly ignorant or major league trolls.

Not doing anything is a choice.

Hillary could have never pulled any of this off. Never. He was democrat before the election and I am finally seeing what we’ve been saying for quite some time...this overthrow of our country was so well scripted we didn’t even see it happening. Heck we thought we were cheering for a hero...wow. Instead that hero is the biggest traitor of them all.

We’ve sat here incredulous over events the last 3 years. How he was treated by XYZ media or the crazy hoax accusations of the democrats and we never put two and two together.

I sure might get kicked off FR after being here for nearly 15 years, but we’ve been played by a master showman. Many here will attack me for pointing this out, but if we’re going to save our country, save our freedom, we need to realize what is happening. Why the deep state was never brought to justice? He/they had to bring America down. Capitalism was being too successful without their interference. Trump and Pence needed to still look like incredible leaders through this pandemic crisis...but that faux leadership is falling away.

Don’t know where or when I said it recently, but the crisis is going to give them what they have desired. Control over the means of production. The two biggest socialist/communist weapons of history are playing out in front of us...healthcare and now food. Those SBA loans for businesses...read the damn fine print! The risk with them is incredibly high if your business fails to recover. No bankruptcy for you if you took the loan! I applied, saw the terms, walked away. Reminded me of something from Atlas Shrugged...just sign the paper Hank Reardon.

The Canadian geese are flying all over the place around here (rural CT).

The cold weather has them totally confused—first they fly north, then south, then north again....

Do you not understand that these facilities are closed because hundreds and hundreds of the people who work at them actually got sick with coronavirus? Exactly who do you think will be working there if he does “open them up”?

That’s a great idea. I’ll bet butchers can make some money doing that for folks that, for whatever reason, can’t or won’t do it for themselves.

“Open up NOW.”

Are you emailing your governors and contacting all your representatives, state and Federal and going to any protest about not opening up in your state or locality? We must all do this.

The vast majority of those who got sick (or tested positive) will recover and then be immune.

Then the plants can re-open in a few weeks.

This sounds like a short-term and easily fixed problem imho.

Tyson sucks and always has. Hillary used to sit on
their board. The wet markets in China are cleaner and humane plus employ less illegals. I have been boycotting Tyson for years!

And if he doesn’t and the flu deaths get worse (and they will - it’s basic science) you and the other Dems will be the first to jump up and call Trump a murderer.

....

Are you joking? Every prediction about the death rates from this hoax have been wrong!

More and more people are being shown to have this antibody! This means that the death rate percentage from this fraud will probably be on par with the flu! You sound like a Fake News reporter pushing this hoax! Ask yourself, who does this hoax benefit. Answer, the Democrats!

Perhaps some of the millions who are now out of work? A high percentage of those that got sick should be able to work within 2-3 weeks. Use that time for extensive cleaning. Either that of lets let it all go to shit while everyone cowers in the corner.

“Nobody - Tyson is responding to a handful of infections in their plants which is scaring the rest of the factory workers so they’re just not showing up. Nd why should they? They get paid more to be unemployed.”

Thanks, I figured the shutdowns weren’t Trump’s fault or part of a ‘grand conspiracy’ to ‘get Trump’. In fact, the shutdowns seem to be a reasonable response, given the spread of the virus. But I do wish that Tyson would have kept quiet, so that us non-FluBros could continue to stock up.

Wasn’t Tyson the puke that bankrolled Clinton?

= = = =

...
Under the guidance of an attorney representing Tyson Foods, Hillary Clinton made a $98,540 profit from a $1,000 initial investment in less than one year trading commodity futures. While $98,540 may not seem like much money relative to the Clinton family’s wealth today, it exceeded Bill and Hillary’s combined annual income at the time.....

http://www.thefiscaltimes.com/Columns/2016/02/02/Why-37-Year-Old-Clinton-Financial-Scandal-Still-Relevant

Today, Tyson Foods is a multi-billion dollar company and the largest meat processor in the nation. Currently based out of Springdale, Arkansas, Tyson operates a private trucking fleet of nearly 1,000 trucks and over 2,100 refrigerated trailers carrying approximately 15,500 loads each week.

https://www.truckingtruth.com/trucking-companies/tyson-foods.html

What’s going to happen to these 1,000s of truck drivers??

From their wiki...

...Religious activities[edit]
In addition to placing 128 part-time chaplains (including both Protestant and Catholic Christians and Muslim Imams) in 78 Tyson plants,[35] in 2006 the company invited their customers to download a prayer book, containing prayers from many faiths, including Christianity, Judaism, Islam, and American Indian spirituality, from the company’s website to read during mealtime.[36][37]

Position on cuts to federal food assistance[edit]
Tyson Foods has made political donations to both major parties.[33]

Tyson “pledged to invest $50 million by 2020 in various efforts to fight food insecurity” in 2015. The company exceeded that goal, with contributions of over $60 million to start the year 2020.[69] However, it has also “pledged hundreds of thousands in campaign contributions to the Republican Party, whose leaders aim to gut federal spending on food aid.” It is not clear that Tyson’s philanthropic efforts could be sufficient to compensate for “between 500,000 and 1 million people” removed from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program in 2017.[33]

Oh, stop.

The biggest red flag here is that this Tyson ad was published in the CIA New York Times and CIA Washington Post. Tyson is laying the foundation to do one or both of the following:

1. Beg for a government bailout.

2. Artificially constrain the meat supply to drive up prices.
