I think what Trump was asking was could there be a way to perhaps “Transilluminate” tissue in the UV range. It is something done diagnostically by Medical Students in the visible range, I’ve never heard of a treatment like that. The PT people do IR trans illumination to “promote capillary recovery”. I’ve seen it, no idea if it works
What he was asking, I believe was is there a way to run fiber optics into each small airway and treat the lungs with UV in a manner similar to suction during a bronchoscope. Maybe. Nobody ever thought of that before I don’t think. It’s doable but the blood is moving through the chest so fast the blood couldn’t be treated, the airway epithelium, maybe but I doubt you would get enough “log kill” to be effective.

Bilirubin lights are a blue wavelength used to treat newborns for jaundice. It breaks down bilirubin in the body to a substance(s) that can be removed by the liver and kidneys perhaps? Not sure about kidneys. It’s a very common treatment. The blue wavelength is toward the UV end but I don’t know if it’s considered anywhere near UV.

Think about it. You could line up several hundred people with “mild illness” and start treating them in a PUVA box until they had a 5-7% circulating volume treatment once a day, it shouldn’t take more than a few minutes per treatment. Generate a dose response curve and start marching people through it. In a couple weeks you should know if it compared favorably to the natural illness. It could take an experimental group of hundreds but it’s doable with stuff off the shelf.
