This bizarre notion people have of the popularity of Chinese New Year! One ripped paper dragon followed by 3 alter kockers in trad garb. Wake up.
“Alter Kocker
old fart; washed up; over the hill
While this can be used to describe any old man, it’s more reserved for old men who are forgetful, clumsy, or now inept.
In German, it literally means “old pooper” or “old defecator”, which makes it similar to the English phrase “old fart”.”

I don’t know about Chinese New Year in NY, but in Hawaii it’s popular and extreme. I worked at a five star resort there, and CNY took over the entire resort - as big as Christmas. (Except we couldn’t say the word, “Christmas”. “Festive season”.) The streets in Honolulu are insane with celebrations.
Since the hot shots in NY were begging people to come, I just assumed it was a BFD there, too. If you say I’m wrong, you may be right and I’ll take your word for it — and I will wake up.
