“Given the Golden State’s deeply entrenched Democratic bastions, is it even possible that this state is in play?”

No. Next question.

Hillary won 61-31 in 2016.
California has undoubtedly gotten more “blue” in four years.
So I’m saying it ain’t gonna happen.

Trump winning California would be highly unlikely to put it mildly. The Communists and illegals have completely overrun that state. But it would be worth Trump swinging through there a couple times to help down-ballot Republicans in House races and maybe a few local races.

Silly.

Joseph Stalin could win in California.

Daniel Ortega could win in California.

Fidel Castro and Mao Tse-Tung as well.

Donald Trump could never in win in California

...and neither could Ronald Reagan today.

It won’t be because Bernie is a socialist. California apparently loves it and can’t get enough of it.

Just the effort of Democrats having to spend money to defend “their turf” could be devastating.

This is what happens when you get single-party rule from Democrats. They just don’t know how to run things, and a California liberal is a special breed of incompetence.

A special kind of stupid...................

Need to get citizenship on the census...

...if not, then take away half of California's 55 electoral votes.

I believe President Trump should make a play for California, Oregon, Washington, and Colorado. In addition to the states, he narrowly lost. Make the dem candidate have to try to keep up and spend money in places they consider a lock.
Speak to the issues that are on the minds of the peoples of those states and which serve to highlight dem incompetence and overreach.
No need to spend huge ad buy monies. Targeted ad buys and rally’s in those states will force the dems to spend money they had not planned to spend.

If Trump advisors convince him to waste time and resources in California as we approach November, it can only mean they see an absolute rout in the works and have nothing better to do. So I hope it happens.

The only way it happens isn’t so much from cross-overs, but from Dem voter apathy: non-voting as a protest against AB5.
