MIAMI - The forecast for the Super Bowl in Miami is grim.
Clear skies and temperature in the 60s are expected when the game kicks off, so weather wont be a problem.
But climate change likely will be, sooner or later. The sea and temperature are rising, posing a threat to South Floridians way of life, including their customary spot in the NFLs Super Bowl rotation.
The game will be played Sunday in Miami for the 11th time, the most of any city. Given the changing climate, how much longer will the region be a place where the NFL wants to bring its big party?
In 10 years maybe well still be functioning normally, said Harold Wanless, a leading expert on sea level rise in South Florida. Twenty years? I think that could be a problem.
The Miami Dolphins stadium, the site of the Super Bowl this year for the sixth time, stands 10 feet above sea level. That will change, although projections vary widely.
Miami first hosted a Super Bowl 52 years ago. What will Miami be doing 52 years from now?
We just dont know how fast the water is going to rise, said South Miami Mayor Philip Stoddard, who has long been sounding the alarm about climate change.
The Miami Super Bowl Host Committee, however, has yet to address the challenges a changing climate will present when the group tries to bring future games to South Florida.
Weve had no discussion of that, committee chairman Rodney Barreto said. It has not been on our radar at this point.
But for the Super Bowl in Miami, the clock is running, and no one knows how much time is left.

52 years? But Prophet Greta said the planet doesn’t even have 12 years!
“In 10 years maybe well still be functioning normally, said Harold Wanless, a leading expert on sea level rise in South Florida. “
Nice cut off date from the 11 years these clowns been yelling about for the past year..
A quick review of the “Climate Change Scheduling Chart” indicates the last super bowl will be played in Miami on 31 Jan 3013. //sarc off//
There are entire towns in Florida in which the houses have a street on one side and a canal leading to the ocean on the other. Thousands and thousands of homes. The prices of those homes should be crashing. Their owners should be packing up and leaving in droves.
Dear Lord, how does any self-respecting human write this propaganda?
Yeah lol
I love this part..
...”sooner or later”
It doesn’t GET more scientific than that! :)
YES, the climate IS going to change sooner or later.
Maybe in 5 years or maybe in 10,000 years.
but it’s got nothing to do with anything we mere mortals are doing.
Dems just love to think they are that important.
OMG,OMG,OMG!!! No more Super Bowls in Miami? That’s it....it’s all over.
I wonder how long it will be for the other 31 NFL Stadiums to be demolished by globull warming?
If it’s too warm, wear fewer clothes or move north and to the coast. Too flooded, move uphill. Too cold, wear more clothes and move south.
Come with me 200 miles north of Edmonton where we will farm tropical fruit.
For every event there is a climate change danger.
Obama just spend $12 million on a Marthas Vineyard mansion that sits about 15 feet above sea-level. He doesnt seem too worried either.
Just when you thought they couldn’t possibly stretch this any further. Next: global warming will make us cancel the Olympics.
“Coach, should I pass or run this play?”
“Swim.”
Forgot about that. Obama knows it's all nonsense.
Stadium finance folks will have to look to the NWPL (National Water Polo League) to replace lost Super Bowl revenue.
The sea and temperature are rising,
The temperature difference is for most of the world, where it might actually exist even in theory, is night-time in the winter in dry areas. Not Florida.
“The Miami Dolphins stadium, the site of the Super Bowl this year for the sixth time, stands 10 feet above sea level. “
“Miami first hosted a Super Bowl 52 years ago.”
AND... how far above sea level was it 52 years ago ?
