NO! The Iranians assumed that the Americans were going to send aircraft into Iran to retaliate, and then when the Iranians shot the airliner down, they could blame it on Tha Americans. The plane was shot down INTENTIONALLY in an Iranian chess match gone wrong. Now the American media is helping them out. Makes you wonder how many are paid off by the Iranians. All supposition of course, but probably more accurate than the major media projectile that is being vomited.

never should have gotten to that point. the airport should have been closed. you don’t create an active war zone, and then fly commercial airliners through it. staggering incompetence on the part of the iraqi govt.
Don’t think Iran is any less culpable in this case, but I repeat:
THE PILOT, THE AIRLINE, THE CONTROL TOWER ARE NOT BLAMELESS.
They were all goofy to try to fly through DEADLY FIREWORKS.
