Putin and Macron Talk by Phone About Concerns Over U.S. Killing of Top Iranian General Soleimani - Kremlin

Russian President Vladimir Putin and his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron expressed their concerns in a phonecall over the U.S. killing of Iran’s Major-General Qassem Soleimani, according to a statement on the Kremlin’s website Friday evening.

The U.S. early on Friday killed Soleimani, head of the elite Quds Force and architect of Iran's spreading military influence in the Middle East, in an airstrike at Baghdad airport.

According to the Kremlin, the phone call was initiated by the French leader. The statement said Macron and Putin agreed that U.S. actions have the potential to seriously aggravate the situation in the region.

Earlier, Russia’s Foreign Ministry told RIA Novosti that the killing of Soleimani would increase tensions in the Middle East, while a number of Russian officials voiced similar sentiments and criticized U.S. actions in Iraq.

The two leaders also discussed the political situation in Libya and Syria during their conversation, the statement said.

Literally NO ONE cares what the the daily whiners are in hysterics about today.

Attacking an Embassy is an internationally recognized Act of War. The US directly, and proportionally, respond by taking out the planners, and organizers, of this criminal act.

That there are US politicians are trying to play politics with this is an indication of their complete lack of any fitness for any political office.

The French general asked why the British soldiers wear red uniforms. He was told that prevents panic when some soldier is wounded and bleeds.

The French general ordered light brown poop colored uniforms for his soldiers.

Assuming this reporting is accurate:

“The statement said Macron and Putin agreed that U.S. actions have the potential to seriously aggravate the situation in the region.”

Our support of the Saudi’s and Russia’s support of Iran is... dumb and dumber.

Of course the French initiated the call; they’re beyond worried. The Russians, meanwhile, answered pretty much the way I expected: “Ya shouldn’t oughta have dun it.” That’s about the bare minimum they could say without completely ignoring the situation.

“To condemn attacks on their embassies, countries normally turn to the [United Nations] Security Council with a draft statement by the president,” Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said in a statement released Friday. “Washington has made no such appeal, which means it isn’t interested in the world reaction. What it is interested in is the balance of power in the region.”

Forget all the drama and nonsense...

Simple:

Killing this animal was risky, but it was without question righteous.

Iran is not a threat militarily... they can do some soft target damage, and asymmetrical things, but in direct conflict they would be be less of a threat than Iraq was.

Have no desire to nation build Iraq.. but to think that we are on the verge of WWIII because we took this animal out is nonsense.

Not much to discuss. Back in 2002, Putin ordered the gassing of terrorists and hostages in the Dubrovka theater after a three-day confrontation. Over 140 people died.

Oh yeah. It seems Iran is getting opposition from Shia factions in both Iraq and Lebanon. Suleimani was holding things together but his successor Qaani may not be up to the task.

The Russians have a tiger by the tail in Iran and they know it. They allied with Iran for various weird reasons, probably to please Obama, and I think even they know that this was a bad match and is dragging them into conflicts they don’t want to be in.
