In January 2018 the Oxford English Dictionary added to its normal definition of what has traditionally been a flake of snow, a feathery ice crystal. Now the OED snowflake is an overly sensitive or easily offended person or persons who believe they are entitled to special treatment on account of their supposedly unique characteristics. Life for them comes, or should come, with trigger warnings and safe spaces. Trigger warnings are needed to alert people that a text or image may be disturbing or upsetting. These were proposed at Cambridge University concerning Shakespeare, because of the sexual violence in some of his plays. Those safe places must be established so students can get together without being exposed to ideas and language that makes them feel uncomfortable.
The term snowflake has become more used and popular since the 1996 film Fight Club, staring Brad Pitt and Edward Norton. The author of the scenario claims he coined the word, believing that students today are more easily offended than in the past. The context is the passage, You are not special. You are not a beautiful and unique snowflake. Irrespective of the origin of the term, it has been widely invoked by discontented students in universities in the U.S. and the UK. But in counterattack, it is also used for evident parody, as displayed in November 2019 by a fake ad posted by the Oscar Café Bar in Dublin.
The ad stated the bar was currently recruiting for an experienced snowflake, self-entitled, oversensitive, self-righteous, and passionate, who has the ability to find and take offence for the most innocuous things imaginable. The candidate does not need to be able to work as part of a team, as some of the best work will be done alone, anonymously, and from the successful candidates bedroom.

LOL! Good work!
The education (or lack thereof) of snowflakes should cause We the People to demand laws that they show competency to raise a family, or have their tubes tied. When they want kids, they apply for a license to breed.
Look at how jacked-up the message has gotten. Back when we were kids, it was “do something with yourself”. It didn’t even really matter what. If you’re the small-town barber, do your best at that. Now kids are being told that the best thing they can do with their life is to be a ward of the state. At age 19, I’d go blow my brains out before doing that. Of course, nowadays, there’s a good segment that says that I did exactly that because I was in the military from age 19-25.

Here's his complaint with spelling errors:
I understand there are grading issues. The professor went out of town prior to comclusion of week three assignments. He did not grade week 3,4, or 5 until he came back on Saturday end of week 5. This was a Capstone Thesis course. EVERY paper submitted for grading depended on his comments for corrections. Comments week 3 could be applied to week 4, and week 5. All papers were to be added to Theseis due that Friday. I could not add them until he finished and I had incredible decreased grades from those papers he should have graded so I could fix issues. His claim is a lie. There was a grading delay only on week three. The was because his papers were so bad that I had to refer him to our Writing Center.
I had to answer to the Assistant Dean. My offense? I gave him a 93% on a paper.
Now the kicker. The guy is a liberal, New Yorker, US Army Vet, and 60 years old.
The snowflake phenomenon has spread to all ages.
Let morons do as they will. If youre stupid enough to attend college and not get a real degree Good luck in the REAL WORLD
Watch tv shows and you hear a lot of whining. “The Big Bang Theory” last several years were whine whine whine and that was from the guys!
bump
“Snowflake” is just a short and handy version for “Emotionally crippled social misfit who sees his sickness as a problem with everyone else”.
I appreciate your nightmare.
I’m a high school teacher. My aviation class was asked to step outside for a quick quiz about cloud formations, visibility, and wind. It was about 10 degrees, light snow, nothing that any of these Alaskan kids aren’t used to. I described myself as a fat old man who had insulation naturally preventing me from getting cold, and I used the phrase “painfully skinny girls” while asking students to go outside for a few seconds.
One of those girls cried for a night, and her mother and her aunt want to bring me to the teacher standards and practices commission and get me fired for hurting the feelings of the student. Fortunately my principals are playing defense for me. We have a parent conference next week.
I’ve been in this profession for 22 years, and plan on retiring as soon as I get to my 25th year. My superintendent and I talked about this incident, and he told me that he spends every day worrying about saying the wrong words to someone.
Retirement sounds really appealing right now. It’s a shame, too - I like this career, I’m good at it, and I’ve had a good run. In a normal world, I’d be doing this until they slip me into the cold earth. But right now, I don’t care.
