Do you please mind? Don’t say that out loud. I work in oil and gas, and I’m hoping they do this lol.

Where in the world do these idiots think the electricity in this country comes from?

The majority of it is either from burning coal or natural gas.

Oops!

What dullards. They must think that meat comes from the supermarket, neatly wrapped in cellophane around a styrofoam tray.

Heaven forbid if they knew if was from raising and slaughtering beef cattle.

That is what the bath tub, a 5 gallon stock pot, and LPG/NG stove top is for. Heat water on the stove and take a bath. Has everyone forgotten how to camp? No electricity? Just go in “camping mode” psychologically. That home is a very very nice “tent”.

I have camped in the woods, in the mountains, at lakes, and beaches. I have also camped at home, but prefer not to; thanks.

Lol, that is how I test stoves to tell if they are ported for LP or NG. just light it up and you will know right away the orifice needs to be changed. I have seen folks try to use them that way, and it is extremely dangerous. The propane does not fully burn correctly because it is way too rich of a mixture and the poisonous exhaust gasses are off the chart, they can kill you very quickly.

IF you put in a interlock system with twist lock plugs, you’re perfectly legal. It doesn’t cost that much. Just saying.

So now you’re cooking with coal!

Around my neck of the woods, coal fired pizza is getting good reviews.

My son in law built a brick wood fired oven, it works well.

See, now we prefer to camp, we have a 40ft self contained coach with solar. We are are completely mobile and off grid capable. And we have all the modern comforts one would need. Only two differences, Unneeded excessive square footage is not a priority, and when everyone’s power goes out our lights are still on and all of our modern comforts still work. We camp, but we camp in style. Nothing like being able to load up in an hour and move somewhere else cooler, warmer, or with better fishing holes. :)

I've had gas and electric and wood. Gas is most efficient and works during blackouts (thought you need a match since the electric starter won't work), electric is safer, and wood is rustic and cheapest.

I'm not swayed by "professionals" or impatience during cold weather. As for irrationality, we are talking about fifty-five cents a day for peace of mind - seems like a reasonable sum.

With all due respect...

Any home with gas risks explosion; stoves not withstanding. But electric stoves have their share of mishaps as well, e.g. the stove remain hot long after the heat is turned off - lots of burn victims. True independence would be propane with a wood-burning stove backup.

In the case of the State of Utopia (a.k.a. California), forcing everyone to and electric stove only allows the state (a.k.a. PG&E) even more control inside the home (just wait and see what they can do with those NEST thermostats). I’m surprised the remaining citizens in that state are not in armed revolt by now.

Not the kind of natural gas I make.

Well, your natural gas contains ketones and aldehydes. Also, there is an interesting amount of hydrogen, too.

Here in Panama, gas appliances are very common because electricity is expensive and there are power outages. My stove still works as long as I use a match to start the flame.

Low social credit score?—no electricity for you until you learn to obey your masters!

And—up here in the northeast US, a wood stove means a winter power outage is an inconvenience but not a disaster.

I lived in N Calif. I heated the entire house with a Lopi wood stove. The house was built of 8” logs and was well insulated above & below.

The power went out for 2 1/2 days one winter & I was able to keep warm. Only ate what was in the cupboards. Didn’t open the freezer or refrigerator.

I have owned 4 homes so far in my life, and I NEVER would even look at one that was ALL ELECTRIC. Never will.

California finds even more ways each do to make mistakes that will KILL their residents.

Glad I am out of there & not willing to go back.

Agreed - nothing is riskless and we all have different utility curves. I don't care if my neighbor uses wood, gas, biodiesel, or reflector ovens as long as it doesn't impinge on my life, liberty and property.

I object to being told I MUST use an electric oven (even if I prefer it) because of the alleged threat to the ozone layer, the darter snail, or Greta Van Fleet or whatever that poor child's name is. I simply want the government out of my kitchen.
