We had so many uncontested contests. If either of my contests had been uncontested, I would have run, just so there was a choice on the ballot.
Republicans didn’t even field a candidate for this senate district. We just gave it to him. There was an independent candidate, and I think we were hoping that the independent could win, and were worried that if we ran a candidate, we would split the vote and he would get in that way.
But she didn’t come close, and it’s a poor excuse not to run candidates for office.
Virginia is a dump except the bay area and west around the hills/mountain area. I went through Jr High and high school in Hampton. The place is a dump now based on words from those I knew. I recall working with blacks unloading box cars in the hot summer sun in 63-64 summers. There was no damn WELFARE then. I liked exploring the bay from the area west of Langley AFB to Langley and to Buckroe Beach (sp). I liked VA. Beach to Yorktown and all the history of the battle field. Would I go to VA now?: HELL NO. America has been trashed since JFK was Pres. He let Cubans in. Just look at our population in 1960 and NOW. How did we get this trash?

My FIL was 28 when he married my MIL in 1949. She had just turned 15. They had 7 kids, 5 of them by the time she was 22. They were married for 49 years. Of course, he ended up spending time in jail for diddling a couple of his granddaughters. I thank God we didn’t live closer.
