You’re right; they’d raid the FFLs first, for ALL records.

They already know what handguns and Class 3 firearms we have, through ATF Form 4473 - Firearms Transaction Record Revisions, but long guns usually don’t require that.

“I see. Somehow I have a hard time seeing most police officers willing to do that.”

I know a local SWAT officer fairly well. Several years ago (right after the mass shooting at the Connecticut school) I asked him what he and his fellow officers would do if the Feds passed a law banning semi-autos, and people didn’t turn them in. He said:

1. That’d be federal law, and we don’t enforce federal law or obey the orders of the feds.

2. My family all own ARs and AKs. I’m not going to go around taking the legally owned and not unlawfully used property of other people while other officers do the same to my family.

3. I don’t really like the idea of leaving the job in a zippered bag. If my chief orders me to do anything like that, I’m putting my badge on his desk and walking out.

He also said that most of his fellow officers would do the exact same thing. They KNOW that they might do 5 or 10 successful raids, and that not long after that they’ll be severely wounded or killed.

We are in San Antonio - certainly a large city, but also not a large and overwhelmingly liberal city like the coastal shitties, Shitcago or even Houston. But if a lot of this particular big city’s force won’t participate, I know for a fact that almost no one in rural areas will, and that a large percentage of cops in other cities won’t, either.

Feds? They’ll become the new Redcoats - and so will their families.

Seems like they would have to have gun registration first, or go door to door searching for them. That might not pass constitutional muster.

Two can play “Army.” Or, more correctly, “Army vs. Insurgent.” Where the “Army” man and his family and friends never know when and where the sniper’s bullet may come from.

Here’s an interesting historical tidbit:

When Marshall Tito of Yugoslavia was “merely” the primary leader of the Yugoslav partisans against the Germans, he was interviewed. The reporter asked him, “How are your partisans, armed only with old rifles, going to take on the Germans and their new Panzers?”

Tito’s response was both funny and demonstrated his tactical and strategic genius: “Well, when the Germans get out of their new Panzers to take a piss, my partisans will shoot them with their old rifles.”

NO ONE is invulnerable...and only the biggest idiot in the world chooses to take on an enemy on the enemy’s terms.

“...and the blue helmets would be run into the sea.”

Only the very luckiest among them. Many of the rest will die slow and painful deaths at the hands of REALLY pissed-off Americans defending their homes and community. No quarter will be given, and Admiral Yamamoto’s statement about a rifle behind every blade of grass (which he NEVER made, as good as it sounds) would end up being true, 80-odd years later.

“Each time you buy a gun from a gun shop, a copy of the transaction including the manufacture of the gun along with the serial number goes to the appropriate office in Washington, D.C. Plus they have the dealer’s yellow sheet, white sheet now.”

What if you inherited the gun?

What if you bought the gun 2nd hand from the first guy who bought it?

What if you bought an 80% receiver and made you own, non-serial numbered, rifle or pistol? This is a HUGE market with dozens of manufacturers who regularly run out of stock.

It isn’t quite so simple as you think, especially for people who WANT to have firearms off paper and have been working toward that goal for years.

I may fix it someday, but if they start demanding we turn in our AR-15s, I will happily turn that POS in if they agree to try to make it work. Which would be worth it to watch. It’s a pile of junk I paid $100 or so for a while ago. It’s also the only actual Colt AR-15 I have. I have other AR *pattern* rifles, but if they just want my AR-15 I am inclined to let them have this one. (Under the category of “hey, look, free garbage collection and immense frustration on the part of the person that picks it up and tries to clear it.”)

It’s like buying a $50 used Jennings, then turning it in at a ‘buy back’ to get the $200 gift card - you remove some of their cash, you also get rid of a garbage gun and you get value in return!

So here is what I don’t get.

Liberals tell us that it would be “impossible” for law enforcement to round up over 30 million illegal aliens.

The same liberals seem to think that it would be no problem for law enforcement to round up over 300 million firearms.

Where is the toothy O’Dork coming up with this ‘recover’ bullspit ? The police never owned anything of mine they might think they need to recover.

I have my Mom’s old .25 6 shot for when they come a knocking and I will give them that, while everything else is buried else where off my property. Kind of a Capt-Hook treasure map

"Don’t sweat it, there are plenty of feds who will detain the sheriff and take care of rounding up the guns."

I believe the people of Polk County AR that elected the Sheriff will put up a strong resistance to anyone that attempts to remove our Sheriff. One thing is certain. There are 100K Rednecks with rifles in and around Polk County that will have a say in it.
