ELECTORAL COLLEGE OVERWHELMINGLY FAVORS REPUBLICANS, ABOLISHING ENTIRE SYSTEM ONLY REMEDY: STUDY

The Republican Party is set to win a large majority of all future close presidential elections, even contests in which they lose the popular vote, according to a recent study.

GOP candidates for president can expect to be victorious in 65 percent of future presidential elections and University of Texas at Austin researchers analyzed why "inversions" — where the popular vote winner loses the overall election — has happened twice since 2000.

The study authors found that the Electoral College's winner-take-all approach favors Republicans and has pushed them to victories in 2000 and 2016.

The researchers concluded that inversions will occur more and more in 2020 and beyond unless a policy change completely dissolves, rather than reforms, the Electoral College.

The study released by the National Bureau of Economic Research last month...

Agree!

It even says it right in the title of the office. President Of The United States. Not, president of the united people.

"It’s stunning at the lack of perception on the democrat side. They think it’s the electoral college that is preventing them from winning. It’s the democrat platform that is causing them to lose elections."

The dems are so ignorant they don't understand that if not for the EC they would not stand a chance of winning an election. The EC actually GREATLY works in favor of the dems. The reality is they only have support in the politically ignorant large metropolitan areas, the rest of the population pretty much knows better. It's the electoral votes of Ca, and Ny that gives the dems the power. Eliminate that advantage and they lose every election for centuries if not forever.

Yep. So few people understand the whole concept of the federal government being a Republic of sovereign states. The brainwashing of generations has been effective.

They don’t understand the great compromises needed to form a federal government comprised of small and large states in the first place. The elites understand it and know they have to get rid of the EC so California and New York can Lord it over the entire country.

The electoral college does not favor democrats or Republicans. The democrats want to abolish it because then the large metropolitan areas would control all elections. Our founding fathers noted that fact when they instituted the electoral college. It was observed as a phenomenon in Europe back then.

Yes, if they want a popular vote, let's give it to them with the following stipulations:

The popular vote is used only if all states have the same voter laws, with enforcement in each and every state up the wazoo. None of this BS as it happens in Florida, California, Illinois, etc. in Democrat areas.

The enforcement is uniform and unilateral, maybe have armed and bonded poll watchers, no exceptions. All this in addition to the electronic means you mentioned.

In addition to that, the vote count starts nationwide only after every state, including Hawaii, closes its polls. That means that the President will not be known until Wednesday afternoon.

As you can see, the logistics are not what the Dems would expect if there truly was a popular vote.

Democrats are now blaming the Electoral College for their inability to win elections instead of their extremist policies.

They will never accept any Republican President as legitimate when they lose.

Its not Trump they hate, its the American people. Impeaching Trump won’t change the fact they’re in huge trouble.

Inversion, my foot.

Why are we even discussing scenarios to allow a popular vote?

The Electoral College is enshrined in the Constitution of the United States.

The ONLY path to overturn it is to have 38 states ratify a Constitutional Amendment. And sorry California and New York, that ain't happening.

Because of the relatively recent shift of large urban areas being overwhelmingly Democrat, and rural areas being overwhelmingly Republican, the Democrats have painted themselves into a corner. Through their control of the educational system and the media, their propaganda has been very successful. Except for rural America. They need to change the system to fit their partial success.

Execute them for treason.

Yeah, I know, "two witnesses to same overt act or confession in open court."

BFD. "SHALL not be infringed" means "whenever a lib feels that it might conceivable make them uncomfortable some unspecified time in the future" and right to privacy means "the government has to pay the costs for women to kill their own children before birth".

As the Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler would say, "F.E.T.E."

I have given some thought to this EC [supposed] conundrum.

To abolish the EC completely would mean the large urban areas would dominate the elections - not a healthy solution at all.

What do you think of this option?
1. Each Congressional District gets 1 EC vote - awarded to the presidential candidate who carried that district.
2. Each state gets 2 EC votes - awarded to the presidential candidate who carried the state.

It would tie the EC votes closer to the voter’s preference for President.

Of course, I think the Democrats may not like it. I may be that the GOP would actually be stronger this way - but maybe not. Think about how many years the Democrats were in control of the US House of Representatives - did that reflect on the presidential votes for Democrats too - or did some of those districts split their vote for POTUS and for
Representative? It would be interesting to actually study the past 10 presidential elections using the congressional district’s presidential preference for awarding the EC vote.

Finally I do think Presidential Electors voting for the candidate they feel like voting for instead of be obliged to support the candidate who won that state’s vote should be changed. They must vote the way the citizens voted IMHO.

Funny that the Republicans did not exist when the Electoral College was devised; that is when the Constitution was ratified.

Democrats can’t even win a popular vote majority in LA.

What’s their solution to that? Abolish elections? Democrats have a far bigger problem than losing the EC.

The American people aren’t on their side. Period.

To: Libloather; All
Regarding controversial Electoral College, please bear in mind that nearly all federal domestic policy is based on stolen state powers which career federal Democrats and RINOs are fighting tooth-and-nail to retain control of imo.

Patriots, beware of overstated importance of Oval Office of constitutionally-limited power federal government. All that corrupt political parties want, particularly Democrats, is a puppet president that will rubber-stamp unconstitutional, vote-winning domestic policy spending bills.

"Congress is not empowered to tax for those purposes which are within the exclusive province of the States." —Justice John Marshall, Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.

In fact, if it weren’t for the corrupt, post-17th Amendment ratification feds stealing state revenues by means of unconstitutional federal taxes, taxes that Congress cannot justify under its constitutional Article I, Section 8-limited powers, then each state would ultimately find more revenues to experiment with its own social spending programs as the Founding States had intended, depending on what legal majority citizen voters of a given state want.

(Note that constitutional limits on states as laboratories of democracy is that states cannot establish privileged / protected classes or abridge constitutionally enumerated rights, and must maintain a constitutionally guaranteed republican form of government.)

Regarding the Electoral College, consider that constitutionally undefined state primaries, primaries established by the anti-constitutional republic Progressive Movement in early 1900s, violate 12th Amendment (12A) by wrongly limiting presidential candidate choices to nominees of likewise constitutionally undefined political parties.

Also, in stark contrast to hypocritical Democratic mantra that all votes count, consider that political party-inspired, winner-take-all laws for electoral votes violate 12A procedures for electoral votes imo.

Excerpted from the 12th Amendment: "The Electors shall meet in their respective states, and vote by ballot for President and Vice-President, one of whom, at least, shall not be an inhabitant of the same state with themselves; they shall name in their ballots the person voted for as President, and in distinct ballots the person voted for as Vice-President, and they shall make distinct lists of all persons voted for as President, and of all persons voted for as Vice-President, and of the number of votes for each, which lists they shall sign and certify, and transmit sealed to the seat of the government of the United States, directed to the President of the Senate [emphasis added]; […]"

On the other hand, bear in mind that while ordinary, qualified citizens have express constitutional power to vote for members of Congress, the states have never amended the Constitution to give ordinary voters the specific power to vote for POTUS. So so-called power of citizens to vote for POTUS is actually as phony as most of the politically correct race and sex “civil rights” allegedly protected by the constitutionally indefensible, Democratic vote-winning Civil Rights Act of 1964 and its titles imo.

What a mess! 8^P

Corrections, insights welcome.

Remember in November 2020!

MAGA! Now KAG! (Keep America Great!)
