It’s getting harder and harder to take Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez seriously. She may be extremely popular on social media to radical progressives, keyboard social justice warriors, and left-wing bot accounts, but she’s losing her edge when it comes to promoting extreme ideas. Other radicals have been stealing her thunder, so her natural response is one of the most predictable we’ve seen in DC in recent years. She doubled down on crazy ideas.
Her latest scheme was to attempt to make a logical argument for “abolishing prisons” by highlighting anecdotal incidents that represent a tiny portion of the prison population. Then, she went further to essentially say she’s owning the conservatives by getting them talking about her crazy ideas. This is not a serious person, let alone a serious politician. That’s not to say she’s not good at politics; her Justice Democrats handlers have coached her well. But she’s letting her ego get the best of her as she promotes ideas that even many radicals will deem incoherent at best.
Mass incarceration is our American reality. It is a system whose logic evolved from the same lineage as Jim Crow, American apartheid, & slavery.

Yesterday morning I spoke with a woman who was thrown in Rikers as a teenager. Put in solitary confinement for MONTHS, aka torture. Force-fed pills.
The conditions were so bad, she too had drank out of toilets.

First of all, many people in jailed or in prison don’t belong there at all.
Whether it’s punitive sentencing for marijuana possession or jailing people for their poverty & letting the rich free through systems like cash bail, we wrongly incarcerate far, far too many people.

Lastly, people tend to say “what do you do with all the violent people?” as a defense for incarcerating millions.
Our lawmaking process means we come to solutions together, &either way we should work to an end where our prison system is dramatically smaller than it is today.

After this, she apparently got a call from her handlers telling her to tone it down because she instantly changed subjects to the Democrats’ rallying cry, “Get Trump!”
Call me lazy, but I’m not even going to attempt to tackle her Tweets detail-by-detail to debunk her thinking and sink what she’s proposing. It’s just too easy and I’m sure our readers are well aware how ludicrous she really is. We’ll leave it to Twitter reactions to express how everyone should feel about her concepts on criminal justice reform:

This isn’t a joke. She’s dead serious. This is what the radical progressive left wants for America. Some are calling it anarchy, but that’s only partially true. They want to use chaos to force their ultimate goal of authoritarian rule.

As I pointed out in the previous thread, the alternative to incarceration is in the 13th Amendment.

Forced labor as a legal alternative to imprisonment.
Yes, I remember Angela Davis visiting when I was in university. She even used the exact same term as AOC “prison abolition”.

There’s nothing wrong with this idea, it actually shows she’s a mensa candidate.
Let me explain. When the Green New deal takes effect, the fossil fuels needed for equipment to produce food, manufacture goods and get this stuff to the people that need it will be outlawed. At the same time most will not be able to heat their homes or go to work, assuming there’s jobs by that time.
We will be so miserable most will want to commit suicide, but won’t have the guts to do it.
The brilliance in AOC’s plan is turn the murderers lose to do the job for us.
Reminds me of Richard Pryor’s comments after visiting a penitentiary.
He remembers his first impression, of all these lovely brothers locked up. After he talked to a few of them, he said “Thank God for penitentiaries! Those motherfuckers were scary.” He asks one of them, “Why did you have to kill the whole family?” Guy shrugs. “They was home.”
