To be clear: When a glacier brakes it means the ice is growing. If the glacier doesn’t brake at all it means it’s melting and turning to water.

No big deal, aliens just shifting ice around and doing some remodeling before Tsoukalos and company get there.

"Tow it to California, end the drought."

The homeless would poop all over it.

“I think the wind and the ocean currents will push it wherever they want it to go.”

How about 100,000 sails and several huge rudders?

“Aye Aye Captain. We got her moving, but she sure handles like crap!”

Tragic isn’t it.

Why isn’t the Democrats on top of this?

Something must be done!

Global Warming be darned! Something needs to be done about the disappearing scotch epidemic!

So a bigger one broke off in the 60’s.

And there was supposed to be a mini ice age in the 70’s.

Funny thing this climate.

But how are you going to put the brakes on a Glacier THAT big?

One should only put that much ice in a blended Whisky.

Who bothers with ice?

I think it could be done but it would cost a lot.

If you were going to do it this is the way to go, in my opinion.

Rotor Ship .

The problem would be that the farther North the berg gets the faster it will melt and you will end up have to reset the sails in the ice several times.

The simpler explanation for we science dummies: A large protuding ice cube weighs more and displaces or pushes surrounding water higher in the glass (or ocean). As the ice melts, the cube weights less, and displaces less. = no change.

An iceberg supported by land, dumped into the ocean (not physically possible) would raise sea levels, but it's a damn big ocean, so ocean rise would be barely measurable even by satellite. Bergs attached but not supported by land won't make a difference.

...biggest iceberg in more than 50 years.

More than 50 years ago, big icebergs like this one were known to calf.

What is the news? What am I missing?

No, it doesn’t weigh more it is less dense. There is a difference. If you freeze one gallon of water it expands and has more than one gallon of volume. It still weighs the same.
