For the haters, it’s open season on the American ideal.
Colin Kaepernick doesn’t like today’s American flag because it reminds him of police brutality and he doesn’t like Betsy Ross’ O.G. flag because it reminds him of slavery. I’m starting to think maybe Colin Kaepernick is not so fond of the flag, or of the country that made him rich.
Nike supported him by withdrawing the Betsy Ross-flagged sneaker. That’s right, the American flag, in any form, is now apparently a toxic symbol. The governor of California, Gavin Newsom, actually praised Nike.

The left is a bunch of commie rats. They’ve gained too much influence over our culture.
Maybe this is burningly obvious, but again so many folks are caught up in the brouhaha (and the way Donald Jr. lampooned it) that they can’t see it.
Launch a new brand of sneaker, calling it perhaps something like “Super Victory” (a riff on the base meaning of Nike) and DO nothing BUT patriotic themes with it. American made of course. The most lucrative financial investment? Probably not. A patriotism winner? Definitely.
I know it is depressing but it wasn’t too different during the Revolution (British loyalists) and Civil War (Confederates) and even Great Depression...(when people were rightfully down and out, and in their isolationist, considering of socialism phase)
I am the unbearably cheery “Gospel solves everything” guy here....
But I did say gospel. Not “religion” per se. “Religion” can easily be about idols.
And weren’t people burning flags over Vietnam?
The left wants to remake America into a totally different country. That’s why.
Agreed. But a healthy dose of committed (temporal) earthly citizenship to a great nation as ours is definitely in order. :)
The Ross flag was displayed prominently at Obama’s second inauguration. Where was Kaepernick then?
American greatness arose in tandem with its founding era Christian ideas.
But God has no grandchildren; even great early Christian movements (like the noble minded Pilgrims, noted for friendly relationships with American Indians) sometimes came to a quick end with a next generation that just wasn’t interested in that Jesus Christ thing.
If you want that kind of a blessing back, skip the artifacts — accept the invitation of the Blesser with your heart.

When something gets treated with disrespect long enough, the rest of society joins in. It’s America’s descent towards socialism.
America is an idea as much as it is a country.
Serious Christian commitment (and it actually doesn’t matter which branch of Christendom is involved, as long as it is willing) is needed to reap the fuel from heaven to make it run. It’s culturally most easy to Protestants, but great Catholic and even Orthodox men know the stuff too. And why not? Christ was never divided.
Amen! And the refuge this Christian country has been to Jews, Hindus, Muslims, atheists, people of all faiths to live in peace and seek God unencumbered by the State, having only to answer their conscience — is really something to marvel at and cherish...and it’s BECAUSE of our Christian fabric not in spite!
You lost everyone except for me when you included Muslims.
Personally, I don’t see the America I hear / read about in the media and I live in a state that is broke, corrupt and run by Democrats for over 60 years. Sure, we have a few. But generally speaking, people keep voting for Democrats because they fear for their jobs, homes, their kids future, etc., because EVERYTHING is Democrat controlled to include the state Republican Party. They, however, do not hate America as a whole.
