Jerry Nadler’s Trump-bashing show is a bust
NY Post ^ | June 10, 2019 | NY Post Editorial Board

“You’re here as a prop. You’re functionally here as a prop because they can’t impeach Donald Trump”: Hand it to Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) for cutting to the heart of John Dean’s testimony Monday before the House Judiciary Committee.

Chairman Jerry Nadler has to put on a show of pursuing President Trump because the party’s left wing demands it. But Speaker Nancy Pelosi won’t let Nadler go to impeachment hearings because she knows the broader public will see it as a partisan outrage.

Pelosi’s bid to appease the extremists runs to quotes about how she wants to see Trump “in prison.” Nadler, meanwhile, must resort to, yes, props.

At the risk of reverberation:

I admit longtime reluctance to endorsing the theory of ‘the media are the real seat of leftist power with the Dem party acting as wind-up dolls.’ But the post-Mueller landscape provides acres of proof of this.

If, for the sake of this discussion, we stipulate that Pelosi is not sandbagging then she is, as advertised, at loggerheads with many Dems. Her only priority seems to be the retention of the speakership. She moans about losing it in every interview and mentions regaining it in every interview. She’s achieved less than nothing in this go-round but at her stage of life it’s all ego all the time. This sort of grandiosity is very common in seniors experiencing rapid declines in mental acuity - it’s a manifestation of cracks in the cognitive wall as well as a coping mechanism when the individual knows her memory is failing and she can’t string coherent sentences together.

It’s also revealing to note that most/all of the Dem presidential field are avoiding the Trumptrumptrump swamp mania. To the extent they mention Trump it’s merely to tick the -ism boxes. But Russiagate is a loser. They know it, their advisers know it, their pollsters know it. For them it’s back to the Free Stuff Forever tactics.

This leaves the cargo cultists - Nadler, Schiff et al. They’re in safe seats. They’re happy to do one ‘hit’ after another on cable news parroting catchphrases that were e-mailed that morning - to the cable news hosts as well as the pols. It literally is an echo chamber albeit an electronic one.

Those are good points. On Pelosi I’ll add that if she can’t be speaker she should/would resign her seat. What’s she going to do become a back bencher? Speaker emeritus? There’s nothing left for her after this, so its all or nothing.

As to the Dem field, note that Tom Steyer has a PAC that is trying to primary anyone in the House who hasn’t openly called for impeachment. Meanwhile, the fact that Nadler and Schiff etc can keep pushing the impeachment side of things it takes pressure off the Dem candidates to have to put that front and center. But, a few of them have made it clear they support impeachment. It is a loser of an argument, so I conclude that it is all coordinated. The House runs their game to give latitude to the Dem primary field.

Innovative's comment that would have us ignore Obama's past transgressions runs counter to the country's and the electorate's Constitutional interests.

The multi-tiered justice system that so many see at work, with highly-placed government workers being given free passes (e.g., Jim Wolfe, Hillary Clinton) has millions outraged for the legacy such leaves with succeeding generations. We people around FR constantly dampening patriots' enthusiasm and lifeblood with their "T'ain't never gonna be fixed attitude." No, these evil-doers must be punished, lest we lose heart

History instructs that whatever transgressions are given a pass come back next time even more virulently, e.g., illegal alien amnesty.

But to answer the question, Barry's crimes could not have been proven during his administration. Despite their having ears, they didn't want to hear the evidence. I know, as I was one of those presenting solid evidence. Institutionally, Congresscritters simply did not want to hear the evidence, notwithstanding that the proof of his ineligibility and related malfeasance was beyond doubt. There simply would have been too high a political price to pay, beyond what any Republican was willing to endure.

Now, a renewed effort by President Donald "You'd be in prison!" Trump points toward renewed hope. Let's see it happen! Many are ready to go into the breach rather than allow a Democrat President to be fraudulently elected in 2020 or 2024.

Barry can still be impeached. He could be stripped of his pension, USSS detail, support resources and expense account. Perhaps we can save all that expensive process for $4 of rope. The known evidence of his guilt is beyond doubt.

[he did pump himself up to give his base the impression that he is larger than life]

Well, to be fair, Jerry Nadler IS larger than life.
