You are a poser.
I have read the same scripture many times and do not see Peter appointed as pope anywhere. The rock is peters confession of the Christ who is the real rock the church is built on. Do not forget a few verses later Jesus looks at Peter and says get the behind me Satan unless you are claiming your sect is built on satan?
These are lies from you.
Show that history.
It doesnt exist and it certainly is not in the Bible, where Peter was a husband with a wife and called Satan by Jesus.
Peter teaching wrong doctrine is that of example, which does constitute the evidence for what we really believe, at least at the moment, but while Peter was not an RC pope, he is spiritually far far beyond me, and as with men like David, failure were contrary to their overall character.
Yet as regards the contrast btwn the Peter of Rome and the holy humble Peter of Scripture , more can be added, esp. that he preached the evangelical gospel of grace and with baptism professing that:
To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins. (Acts 10:43)
While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter, Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? (Acts 10:44-47)
And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe . And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us; And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith . (Acts 15:7-9)
And rather than being a contradiction, this is interpretive of Acts 2:38:
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. (Acts 2:38)
For to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ requires faith in Him, and if they would baptized then it means they believed, and Peter could promise that they would receive the Spirit by this effectual faith.
Like as in Mark 2:1-16, a cause and effect go together, then the terms can be used interchangeably, thus,
And immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, he said unto them, Why reason ye these things in your hearts? Whether is it easier to say to the sick of the palsy, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk? But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (he saith to the sick of the palsy,) I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy bed, and go thy way into thine house. (Mark 2:8-11)
Since forgiveness effected healing, thus the Lord could tell the palsied man to do what required and enabled forgiveness, and likewise to be believe is to obey. however, The effect is not to made the cause.
Elsie may have something to add here, and others.
If you read the Wikipedia entry it is a list published by the Roman church. Hardly an unbiased widely accepted historical institution
Soon.
LOL! And the Masons claim all our Founding Fathers, with little proof.
That list is what Catholics claim, and not proof.
This chronological list of popes corresponds to that given in the Annuario Pontificio under the heading "I Sommi Pontefici Romani" (The Supreme Pontiffs of Rome), excluding those that are explicitly indicated as antipopes.
Published every year by the Roman Curia, the Annuario Pontificio attaches no consecutive numbers to the popes, stating that it is impossible to decide which side represented at various times the legitimate succession, in particular regarding Pope Leo VIII, Pope Benedict V and some mid-11th-century popes.[1]
The 2001 edition of the Annuario Pontificio introduced "almost 200 corrections to its existing biographies of the popes, from St Peter to John Paul II". The corrections concerned dates, especially in the first two centuries, birthplaces and the family name of one pope.[2]
You are stating facts ass the Roman church states them if you look at the passage and the Greek manuscript the small Rock Peter is his confession of Christ as Lord. The large Rock Christ is the rock the church is built on you are entitled to your opinions but not your facts
Oh, and the Gay Lobby claims Abraham Lincoln.
Are you saying that calling out the RCC on its errors and self-serving Scripture interpretation is a problem?
