New Yorkers fleeing to Florida need to leave their terrible blue state policies behind as well
Fox News ^ | 17 February 2019 | Ed Pozzuoli

Back in the day, my native New York State feasted on the iconic I♡NY ad campaign, enticing Americans to drop in and spend their dollars in the Big Apple.

But now, we’re being treated to the spectacle of the state’s governor selling… not New York, but Florida!

In a recent press conference, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo blamed a $2.3 billion budget deficit in New York on the compounding effect of federal tax reform on the state’s sky-high taxes. And according to the Wall Street Journal, “(Cuomo) specifically mentioned Florida as an attractive option for New Yorkers who are unhappy with the change in the tax law.”

The Journal article also points out, “Preliminary data show a jump in Florida home purchases by buyers from high-tax states.”

[Snip]

For us freedom-loving Floridians, however, there's a rub. It seems all too many blue-state refugees, having found haven from tax-spend-regulate oppressors, turn around and import the very same blue-state politics that caused them to flee in the first place.

Thank you. I find these posters offensive who name call and stereotype other freepers on this site because of the state they live in. Home is home. No passport to travel or move to another state. People outside the metro area don’t get the diff between manhattan, boroughs, LI, Westchester, Upstate, downstate.

“Northeasterners have ruined my beautiful Commonwealth of Virginia by voting for what they were fleeing.”

2nd time in our nation’s history where the north has fecked up the south only this time is far worse and probably for keeps.

Or as we used to say of casual Baptists,
“They’ll vote a town dry, and then move.”

Wasn’t Trump going to fix this?

We didn’t get this way under one president,
and we won’t get out of it under one president.

Liberalism is a cancer. America is rapidly turning purple.

New Yorkers who come to Florida bring their Social Democratism with them. It’s, “Honey the milieu is so refreshing here, much less crime, taxes are low, the streets are safer and the state government is not in your face 24/7. All they need is a few more services.” and it goes downhill from there. Ask someone from Colorado or New Hampshire.

Florida natives call these New York invaders hemorrhoids because they come down and won’t go back up and they are a pain in the arse.

Only time I was in NYC was 1970...Found two things in NYC interesting...

A bar across from Central Park had these long containers on the bar...From 11 to 2 every day, they had ham, turkey, cheeses, veggies and several types of crackers in them...As long as you had a drink in front of you, you could eat from them...GREAT!!!!

The other was Radio City Music Hall....

What people do not remember, is that it happened to California first. California was once a western state, then everybody from out east moved in, now it is the left coast.

Can’t they understand that they will hate the horrible heat and humidity that permeates Florida? At least that’s what they always complain about when they get here.

There ought to be a law...

A law that prevents those moving from liberal states to conservative states, from voting for 5 years. Enough time for them to think about why their new states are not as screwed up as the states they left.

I live in central Mississippi and three years ago bought property across from the beach in the panhandle of Florida with the intention of building there. I love to boat and fish so I wanted a second home on the coast and the place I bought is in a great location. I’m now rethinking it and I’m probably going to look on the coast of Mississippi for a place to build. The reason for that is I’m scared of Florida’s politics now, it’s turning bluer by the day because of the influx of north easterners. They’re moving to south Florida, not the panhandle but they’ll turn the state government blue so I’m afraid I’ll still be stuck under a leftist government that dictates from Tallahassee. The near election of a radical like Gillum scares the heck out of me, it’s a harbinger of things to come. Even under republicans Florida has passed a couple of anti-second amendment laws that do not sit well with me, those being a red flag law and a waiting period for handgun purchases. I’m an absolutist on the second amendment and don’t want to voluntarily submit myself to unconstitutional state laws.

I feel certain that Mississippi will be among the last to go blue. New Englanders aren’t moving here like they are Florida, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia. Heck, most New Yorkers are even scared to drive through Mississippi, and that’s not a bad thing. If there are New Yorkers on this board that are true conservatives then I apologize, but my observation has been that even those that claim to be conservative still harbor their big government ways when they move south and vote for leftist policies.

We didn’t get this way under one president, and we won’t get out of it under one president.
=======

That's too bad because the way things are looking I'm no longer confident we'll get another chance.

In 2016 Trump lost the popular vote by over 2,000,000 votes. In 2020 how many more anchor babies will be voting for the 1st time and who will they be voting for? How about in 2024?

These are not good numbers, Trump better get going, we are out of time.

I sadly agree. As H L Mencken said, “The people deserve to get what they want. And they deserve to get it good and hard.”

Why do northerners want to move south? With exception of Alaska and Nevada, the state’s with the highest crime rates are all in the south. I live in a very low crime area. If you call the cops they arrive at your home within 3 min. More to life than low taxes and low home prices.
