Gabbard issues video apology for past views

Presidential candidate U.S. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard on Thursday responded to criticism about her past work advocating against gay rights by apologizing in a video.

The nearly four-minute-long clip, which was shot in her Washington, D.C., backyard, shows Gabbard standing in the snow saying that her views have changed significantly since she made statements that were hurtful to LGBTQ people.

The Democratic congresswoman has apologized for such statements before. But she has come under renewed criticism since she announced during a CNN interview last week that she would run for president.

I would suggest SALVATION, rather than repentance.

Without salvation, repentance is meaningless and powerless.

She can shove her “apology”. “Apologies” are a dime a dozen these days. They mean absolutely NOTHING.

Agreed, but repentance is the human part of the Act of Salvation.

Forgiveness also frees one from the bondage of guilt, which can lead to missing the mark in other areas of our lives.

The forgivness also can be received, or not. It is better to give than to receive - which is two sided. Person A asks forgiveness (giving), person B forgives person A (receiving & giving).

But... as the old cowboy preacher once explained to me “If you forgive someone who has sinned against you, that doesn’t necessarily mean you have to invite them over for dinner.”

Nice.

Repentance and forgiveness definitely expunge evil and guilt from our world.

I was raised to believe that it takes a big person to participate in that process...and an even bigger person emerges from its success.

Me, too. I had a modicum of respect for her, but that is blown to H***. She actually blamed her ‘previous views’ on her Consertive upbringing?? You won’t win any Primaries anyway, so Tulsi why be a sellout?

My DH used to work with Mike Gabbard in some of the conservative activist issues. Tulsi selling her soul now to get votes from Socialist Hawaii.

Her father is Catholic and was quite conservative at one time. Her mother converted to Hinduism and Tulsi is a Hindu.

The parents are still married. I don't know how they worked out their differences.

Hawaii is pretty much a one party state, so those with political ambitious gravitate to the Democrats as Tulsi Gabbard and her father (once a Republican) did.

Politicians change their views to get elected. Maybe not as dramatically as the Gabbards, but all the time. Are there any who don't?
