One big difference is that Barr is a New Yorker.

One thing I can say for absolute certainty: Trump has probably had enough of dealing with these Southern jack@sses who read the Bible every day and go to church every Sunday ... then go out into Washington and get their asses kicked around from sunrise to sunset.

Remember one of the most important narratives of the New Testament: the juxtaposition of the apostles John and Peter. John was Christ's favorite disciple, and his faith was so strong that he was the only one who was not martyred. Peter was a very flawed misfit who even denied Christ three times on the night before the crucifixion.

For their legacies, Jesus Christ -- while dying on the cross -- told John to take care of Mary, the Mother of God.

He told Peter that he would be the rock on which Christ would build His church -- to prevail against the forces of hell until the end of time.

Since the odds are that Trump never heard of Barr, I’d like to know which of his advisors made the recommendation.

Over the past two years, Barr has expressed agreement with some of Trump’s views on the Russia investigation. He has questioned whether special counsel Robert Mueller’s team of investigators is plagued by political bias.

“I would have liked to see [Mueller] have more balance on this group,” he told The Washington Post last year, citing political donations to Democrats made by some attorneys on Mueller’s team.

He also told The New York Times in November 2017 there is a greater basis for an investigation into Hillary Clinton’s alleged involvement in a uranium deal with Russia than the Mueller probe into ties between the Trump campaign and Moscow’s election interference in 2016.

Read up on him before passing instant judgement. Then watch and see what happens.

...

I agree. There are a lot of FReepers who are quick to jump to conclusions and ignore the details.

The Keebler Elf screwed Trump and screwed America. He woke up every once in a while to be good on illegal immigration (Ann Coulter luved him for this) but otherwise he was a compromised stooge of The Swampy Deep State.

This is Trump’s “Please don’t hurt me, I’ll do what you want” White Flag of Surrender.

A couple of feathers on the positive side of the scale.

CIA and GHWB background are hundred-ton weights on the negative side.

If President Trump just nominated a guy he never heard of, then this would reinforce my view that he was never as upset about Sessions as he led everyone to believe.

For the first time ever, I genuinely feel like the idea of America - one people united by love of liberty and bound together by the rule of law - is over.
With this nomination, the neoliberal elites are all but officially above the law.

I agree.
I thought the military was pulling his puppet strings, but they wouldn’t have gone for this.

He’s new to politics and I’m sure he knows all the main political players. Barr’s name is not one that’s been out there. I read and watch just about everything and I’ve never heard of him. I was personal rooting for Sydney Powell. Just thinking that during the Bush-Trump funeral lovefest over the past couple of days, that someone just threw the name out at him.

So long as they hit at least 10% I’ll stick around.

Depressing, isn't it. There are so many idiotic posts and posters, and if you respond with reason, they respond in turn with insults and irrationality. You end up getting dragged down to their level. Sigh.

CIA and GHWB background are hundred-ton weights on the negative side.

Based on that mentality, Clarence Thomas must be a lousy Supreme Court justice because he was appointed by Bush 41.

Seems that Trump is getting better at racking up poor to bad deep state choice candidates for his administration positions. He used to be fond of saying that he was not a politician but for the past 18-+ months he rarely says that anymore and he is now starting to resemble those politicians he used to lambast so often. Just have to wonder if he is just the latest man (with good intentions) who went to Washington only to become just one more typical politician, corrupt or not but turned into a jaded pol and who is losing his way while he starts looking like the rest of them.

Barr is just another lifelong deep stater and Trump should be ashamed of himself for appointing him to that position, IMHO. Barr is just one more of the Washington's 'good ole boy' network player, go along to get along types.

I am going to wait and see as I really don’t have an opinion either way at this moment.

What I really want to know is if the Trump-bots who have their nose up his butt are wondering if they’re going to smell some stink with this one or is such a position only for those with no sense of smell?

I've wondered the same. I don't trust the King's counselors.

Trump should have appointed someone who will kick major ass.

Thanks Hieronymus for your vote of confidence. Like you I also look for informative posts, and Alberta puts some good ones out there too. I happen to take today off from work, but I come in and out of FR as I can. Hope to see you out here again, as this nomination progresses and on other important issues.
