Murkowski Sides With Flake on Delaying Kavanaugh Vote for FBI Investigation
Townhall.com ^ | September 28, 2018 | Lauretta Brown

Sen. Lisa Murkwoski (R-AK) told reporters Friday that she agrees with fellow moderate Republican Sen. Jeff Flake (AZ) in his call for an FBI investigation that would delay the Senate floor vote on Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination for up to one week.

Murkowski believes there should be an investigation that is “limited in time and scope.”

Murkowski to @ckmarie:
“do you support Senator Flake’s call for a delay and an FBI investigation?”
Murkowski: "yes I do. It has to be limited in time and scope.”— Phil Mattingly (@Phil_Mattingly) September 28, 2018

During the Senate Judiciary Committee vote to move Judge Kavanaugh’s nomination to the full Senate, Sen. Flake insisted that he did not think they should have a full vote on Kavanaugh until there has been a week-long FBI investigation into sexual misconduct allegations against Kavanaugh.

The committee did vote 11-10 to confirm Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.

As a moderate Republican, Sen. Murkowski was a key vote in the confirmation process.

Kavanaugh's confirmation will be determined by her and other key moderate senators such as Sens. Susan Collins (R-ME) and Jeff Flake.

Judge Kavanaugh and Dr. Christine Blasey Ford both gave emotional testimonies Thursday on allegations that he groped her and pinned her down while he was drunk at a party in high school.

Kavanaugh fully denies her allegations and the witnesses she initially claimed were present have denied that such an event occurred.

Rush spoke about the supposed one week limit. He and others know that the Dems have many cards to play in the deck with more victim cards that the have waiting in the wings. When the week delay is about over another delay will be needed when more victims are brought out and the weakneed Rinos will join in the cry’s for more continuations to allow the new victims to be heard.

This is so obvious to the average person that I suspect most liberals know it to be so as well.

“I can’t believe what I’m witnessing, and it’s from the Republican party!”

The same party that has fought Trump tooth and nail since he threw his hat in the ring. They’ve never let up either.

Just think if they had expended this much effort on O’muslim

They make me sick.

This is my take.

I think going into yesterday Flake, Murkowski and Collins expected Ford to look bad, and for her to be exposed and have little support.

That didn’t happen, I’m shocked by how many people out there still actually believe her, and that emboldened the Democrats.

I do think it’s important that ultimately her story does get ripped apart, and if it takes an FBI investigation to do that, so be it, although I don’t have too much faith in this.

I think the Rats realize they’ve taken this as far as they can, they got their base whipped up, so it’s ‘Mission Accomplished’ for them. To pursue this any further will be counter-productive, and they have to know this.

My take is the two Republican senators want to appear to show they are more bipartisan than the other Republican senators but will vote yes in a week. This is their pound of flesh.

It stinks.

McConnell needs to give them only one week but force a vote even if a no vote. I believe the FBI completed it’s review of Hilary’s new email in a week.

There’s no way the Dems would be this happy about a one week delay if they didn’t know full well what was coming during that week and what the FBI is going to magically find. These people are beyond contemptible.

I heard that Flake is a pedophile and the Dems have the proof. I think they threatened to release the evidence.

I think we need an immediate FBI investigation to see if Flake vote was changed by either blackmail or bribery That stakes are too high to allow this to go forward without an FBI investigation

Hmm this playing by the Senate Democrat rule book is fun. Just make up an absurd accusation and demand the GOP Senate roll over and play dead for it.

How many more sluts are going to appear in a week? One? Two?
Ten?” What is the over/under?

Yes, this was a victory -

1) Its out of committee - that’s a big hurdle
2) All of the “no” votes were Democrat - underscores their partisanship.
3) Kavanaugh and Graham drew blood Thursday - the Democrats looked bad - so an immediate Friday vote codifies that.
4) The FBI truly does have nothing to contribute - the Dem demand was just for show - so it is very unlikely to drag on past a week. More than likely it will be a rubber stamp.

Because he needed two of them to be present on the Committee, if what he's saying is correct, then he basically tricked them to get them to show up, as all of the Rats were prepared to sit it out. I'm not sure that's what really happened, but it's an interesting theory.

My first thought on this theory is that that Article I section 5 of the Constitution requires just 51 senators to be present to conduct business.

Without even looking at the Senate rules, I would think that 51 senators are capable of changing any self-determined Senate rules, such has a minority requirement rule.

What am I missing?

And that is why 52-48 is better than 51-49. I don’t live in Alabama but the Roy Moore thing cost the Republicans.

The Democrats are a unified armored phalanx.

The Republicans are a herd of de-nutted cats.

Ted Stevens, Roy Moore and Al Franken vs Norm Coleman. The Democrats always bring the knifefight, while the Pubbies bake cookies.

In the Roy Moore instance, Moore's ego lost the seat, and it hurt the team.

The Democrats don't let the ego of a single player affect the team goals.

Agreed.

I am still surprised a scum lawyer or democRat congress critter has not come out with an anonymous letter from allegedly a concerned parent of a still minor girl, and former teammate of one of Judge K. daughters’ teams he coached, accusing him of talking to or touching a girl in a sexually inappropriate manner. Of course, because the girl is a minor, the parents will not come forward to protect the girl yet the accusation is levied nonetheless. Result is the worst accusations yet; a sexual predator of young girls which he cannot defend against.

Watch for this one. The nuke against Judge K.

Regards.
