Girls and women have that same valley girl voice everywhere now

Even in the South

College southern girls talk just as vapidly

It’s the replacement for their native accent and I find it disgusting

Only southern accent left amongst under 40 southern women is country

If you are country

Then you go to Oxford or Tuscaloosa or Athens and promptly lose it so as not to be ashamed of you heritage

Watch those reality shows in Savannah or Charleston.....some of the Charleston girls have kept theirs to be fair

A Charleston blue blood accent is perceived as upscale, so is a Virigina Tidewater accent. So, status seekers retain those.

That’s because colleges now teach Southern kids that to sound Southern is to sound stupid and ignorant. The Southern accent is the only one that I can stand to listen to. The rest make my ears bleed.

You are so right. Fortunately our family has not lost ours, especially the GA contingent.... we lovingly call the “GA militia” Eatin’ Goober Peas!
