Paul Ryan ‘will await the findings’ of Jim Jordan investigation
The Hill ^ | 07/07/18 | John Bowden

Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) reiterated through a spokesman on Friday that he is still awaiting an investigation to be completed over allegations that Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) knew about claims of sexual abuse involving the Ohio State University wrestling team.

"These are serious allegations and issues," Ryan's spokesman Doug Andres told USA Today in an email. "The university has rightfully initiated a full investigation into the matter. The speaker will await the findings of that inquiry."

Ryan's office had released the statement earlier this week amid the July 4 recess, but reiterated his position after more former wrestlers at Ohio State accused Jordan, a leader of the House Freedom Caucus, of knowing about alleged sexual abuse by the team doctor and not taking action.

Former UFC heavyweight champion Mark Coleman on Thursday became fifth former OSU wrestler to accuse Jordan of not taking action while serving as an assistant coach, saying that unless Jordan has "dementia" he knew about the alleged abuse.

“There’s no way unless he’s got dementia or something that he’s got no recollection of what was going on at Ohio State,” Coleman said. “I have nothing but respect for this man, I love this man, but he knew as far as I’m concerned.”

One of Jordan’s former wrestlers, Dunyasha Yetts, came forward this week and said that he and his teammates personally complained to Jordan and others about a team doctor’s inappropriate sexual behavior many times.

Jordan pushed back strongly against the accusations in a Fox News interview Friday night, arguing that conversations in the locker room did not amount to formal accusations and saying that no one directly reported abuse to him.

“Conversations in a locker room are a lot different than allegations of abuse or reported abuse,” Jordan said Friday, adding that “no one ever reported any abuse to me.”

The doctor in question is now dead.

The only thing that could stick is if someone submitted a formal complaint to the university back then and Jordan knew of it. If not, this is a nothing burger.

You are 100% right.

And justified in requesting background information (imo).

He might as well come out of the closet and tell everyone he is a gay Democrat for all the good he does.

Ryan is probably in on this Jim Jordan attack, up to his slimy eye balls.

But Jim is being talked about as speaker and BOOM!

Also, Jordan had just raked Rosenstein over the coals, too.

A “former UFC heavyweight champion” accusing somebody else of having “dementia”. That’s funny. I don’t care who you are. That’s funny right there. #MeTooOSU.

In response to a series of questions from NBC, Ohio State emailed a statement saying that the law firm Perkins Coie was overseeing the probe into the Strauss allegations for the university.

Perkins Coie? Perkins Coie? It sounds so familiar. Where have I heard this name before? Hmmm...

Yep. Paul Ryan “should have known” about Denny Hastert. Why didn’t he do something?

So now, when a Republican faces unproven allegations of sexual misconduct, that is not a high-enough bar.

Now Republicans facing unproven allegations of HEARING of sexual misconduct, THAT’S a crime.

Soon, it will be alleged that a Republican knows the definition of sexual misconduct, and that will be an impeachable offense.

The accusers allegedly had a locker room conversation with the assistant coach who did nothing.

Did they beg, plead, and ask him to do something?

If they allegedly told the assistant coach and he did nothing did they tell the head coach, the university president, campus security?

Did they bother to write an anonymous letter to the campus newspaper exposing the abuse?

The estimates given by one of the accusers is 1500-2000 victims.

Did not one file a formal complaint to anyone?

Is there a formal paper trail?

Hey Paul people in glass houses should not throw stones. We know that there are plenty of skeletons in your closet and remember that two can play at this game. It is not a one-way street.

At this stage of the dissolution of the Republic, sufficient ideology and money can get any conclusion that the partisans want. It is difficult to believe anything anymore and I would not trust Paul Ryan for a moment to defend a conservative.
